Apparently AI isn't the Answer for us now. Tough decision as I am sure some, even a lot, of fans wanted AI in a Knicks uniform. Personally the reasons given for not pursuing Iverson (it would slow down the progress of the youngsters) works for me. I like AI but I am getting that Ewing at-the-end-of-his-career vibe off him where he thinks at 34 he is still the Main Man. The fact he rebelled against coming off the bench at Memphis bothers me because he knew going in that was the plan. In the end we have had enough melodrama. Let's just play ball.

Couldn't agree more, Bill. Alan Hahn reported that we are not pursuing Iverson, did you see or hear it from any other source?

Last night on TNT David Aldridge sounded as if Iverson was in the bag. As for Newday, they only said D'Antoni and Walsh would "talk at length" with him, so I guess that conversation took place already.
As everyone else said, Iverson is selfish and would've stunted our younger players' growth. Good riddance.

No, if you check today's KnicksFix you will see that Hahn says Iverson is NOT coming. Your news is yesterday's news.

typical media day...leads with morning story "Signing Iverson 90%", two hours later, "knicks won't sign iverson"..
does that mean we're resigning Michael Ray Rich?

They say it was Dolan who said no to Iverson. This could be a good sign that shows Dolan has learned a few lessons from his old ways. When Isiah was running the assylum he could sign and trade for just about anyone he wanted. Since Iverson is not coming, the Knicks need to develop the youngsters. Gallo needs to get more touches. His best talent is his shooting. He needs at least 10 attempts a game. I dont know if any of you have watched the suns this year, but Nash is always able to draw Frye's defender and pass him the ball at the top of the key for a wide open three. If Gallo took Frye's place he would already have 100 three's for the season. Im exageratting, but you know what I mean. We have players who come down and chuck three's like their shooting layups. All the while Gallo is standing in the corner, while he hasent even attempted a shot from the corner all season. Dantoni has to take control and tell the team that Gallo is the future and has to be treated accordingly. if the others dont like it have them sit.

I'm reading between the lines, here, but I think maybe the reason for not signing Iverson has to do with the big confrontation between McGrady and Adelman down in Houston. McGrady actually dressed for the game, to the complete surprise of his coach, and a heated "conversation" followed. Let's hope Eddy plays well and the Rockets get desperate enough to make that trade. Nate, Mobley and Eddy for McGrady and Budinger.

I have to disagree with Mercury here. Whether you wanted Iverson or not, and you agree with Dolan or not, Jim Dolan needs to learn to keep his big nose out of the day to day basketball decisions that this team makes. He needs to sign the checks and shut up. If he doesn't like the direction his GM and coach are taking the team, then he needs to fire them, but until that day comes he should have no input at all on who Donnie Walsh wants to sign. If Walsh has decided that Iverson is good for this team, he needs to respect that and not overrule him. What if Lebron (God forbid) should be charged with some minor crime this season, will Dolan go to Walsh after the season is over and tell him he's not allowed to sign him? Just continue to run your daddy's cable company into the ground and sing your shitty blues songs, Dolan. Leave the basketball decisions to the basketball people. That being said, if D'Antoni didn't want Iverson due to his theories on the importance of practice, and thought he would hurt the team and the younger players both on and off the court, I fully respect his decision.

RX, not to contradict myself I happen to agree with you. I cant stand Dolan, he is a idiot. Looking back I was trying to put a positve spin on the non-signing of Iverson. Dolan dosent know shit about basketball and he shouldnt have input. However, I was comparing this situation to previous one like the extention of Isiah, the handeling of Larry Brown, and many other unfortuante situations. If not signing Iverson was a Dolan call it is a move that is more sound than his previous blunders of desperation. But I agree with your overall point that he should only sign checks and sit courtside at the game. Personally I was dissapointed when I saw we werent going to sign Iverson, but at the same time I can rationalize it as a good non-signing in relation to developing the youth.

well, if he's the reason they didn't sign Iverson, I would suggest he doesn't sit at courtside either, because he's going to hear a lot of crap from the fans. They pay a lot of money and they're entitled to better than this. I'm all for the youth getting their chance for the rest of the season, but I'll believe it when I see it. I think it's going to continue to be Duhon, Harrington, Hughes, etc. for quite some time, and that's why I wanted Iverson. Dolan doesn't want them to give up on the season, yet he doesn't do what it takes to make the season more entertaining.

Gallo can't be the future until he starts putting in work. The way he half heartedly reached for the ball in a loose ball situation was a disgrace. Didn't dive ( fine) didn't move his feet ( disgraceful). He just stand around hoping the ball will come to him. If he moved the ball would find him more often. He's standing around like a girl would in a men's game P.S> I like gallo A LOT but part of this is on him.

I get the impression that Dantoni really wanted AI; Walsh ( still taking season off) didn't want to make a move and Dolan really didn't want Iverson. Dolan, gun shy, doesn't want any more embarrassments. Grudgingly I can accept that. Walsh would prefer that status quo and not make any mistakes is easily willing to accede to Dolan. Now dantoni has to coach these bums. Duhon's efficiency is hideous. Only Trenton hassell has played more minutes and been less efficient. And Nate has been worse than duhon so far. Of course mike realizes that Dick McGuire or Becky hammon or Herve villechieze would be an upgrade over Chris Doodoohon.

Way to go Rx. i wanted iverson also because we can't score and won't play defense anyways
