I was on RealGm's trade checker site and I found the perfect trade that works:
Knicks trade Eddy Curry to the Sacramento Kings for Kenny Thomas.
I tried doing the oft-rumored Jared Jeffries/Nate Robinson trade for Thomas, but it was disallowed due to the restricted FA status of Nate.
I know what everyone's thinking about Blue Whale but I just read that Geoff Petrie wants to put a "product" on the floor and that he will cut monies from other sources.
Okay, Eddy is a fat lard ass now, but he is only 26 years old while the Kings just are sitting the elderly Kenny Thomas, who is earning just as much as Beef, but wants to and is able to actually play a few minutes per game. For some reason, the Kings just don't want him on their team.
Of course, the obvious benefit is Kenny's contract which expires after next season, and the Knicks get under the cap by an additional $12,000,000 bucks by the summer of 2010. I'll be honest and say that I would give the Kings our first round pick this year in addition to Blimp. I cannot see the Kings rejecting this type of a deal, IMHO.
Chris Bosh AND LeBron James are worth a useless fat player and our pick, me thinks. Maybe I'm getting too nervous?

nice idea Ken. I think we need this pick though, since we dont even have one next year, if its Lawson, Curry or Evans, we need a player, especially since Nate is gone. I think we give Curry the summer to "get in shape" and God willing we can showcase him like we did Randolph. Worse case we trade him for different shorter garbage, but we give him one last chance.

The problem with Sacramento is money. The Maloof Brothers took a bath, popularity and revenues from the Kings are down and they don't have a lot to offer. If I were Petrie I'd hold on to Kenny Thomas and let his deal go. I have 2 picks in the draft and maybe one of them is the #1. I have some young, good players in Martin, McCants, Thompson, Hawes, Garcia and Greene. They are still carrying the yoke of Shareef Abdur Rahim for 2 years and they have Andres Noscioni and Beno Udruh signed through 2012 and 2013 respectively.
If Petrie is smart he finds a way to trade Noscioni and Udruh. He stays away from chancy deals. He gets a top notch player in the draft and he build his young guys, most of them still working under rookie deals. I'd also be looking for a deal for Kevin Martin. He's good and talented but he's a second or third type guy behind a star. Put him with LeBron or Wade.... In the meantime he is still young, not so overpriced he can't be traded and you should get back a very good young player and a pick.
Meanwhile Eddy still has his own seat at Burger King on 7th avenue and everybody shouts "Eddy!" when he walks in the door and the first of his 6 Whoppers is on the table before he even sits down. ; )
But I'm not cynical. ; )

Won't anyone take Eddy off the Knicks payroll? Besides "Jack In The Box"? : (

Sounds great to me. I would keep Lee over Robinson because, as someone else said, working-class players are tough to replace. I would feel better, though, if we kept both Lee and Robinson; I think Nate can improve by leaps and bounds next season--not just in his play, but his attitude as well. I cringe at throwing in our #1 pick because we need to get younger and more athletic; Gallo may fit that bill, but he didn't play a full rookie season.
Just my thinking.

If Eddy comes to the preseason weighing more than 300 pounds, Donnie Walsh may have to buy out his entire contract and simply waive him. The Knicks would only have 34% of his last contract year's salary count against the cap, even if they have to pay Blue Whale off to disappear. Of course, this is the most drastic scenario, but if NY paid Marbury off to go away, they can do the same with Fat Ass.
If Curry is due to earn approximately $12,000,000 in that crucial year, NY can sign another elite FA in addition to LeBron, and may have enough to retain David Lee or, at worst, sign a third FA player who is above average, which is better than having an unfit Eddy Curry break the Knicks 2010 summer...

Jeff...
I also cringe at throwing a number one away, just to get a team to take Curry. I don't think Walsh would do it, unless we actually dropped in the lottery to number 9 or 10, when the ping-pong balls drop. I also would keep Lee over N8 and honestly, I would want to keep Robinson on the Knicks, as I also see him being able to mature and grow.
I think what management does with Eddy Curry is more crucial to the Knicks future than ever.

Curry Factiod'
Prior to becoming considered one of the best high school basketball players in the nation as a senior at Thornwood High School in South Holland, Illinois, Curry aspired to be a gymnast and did not pick up basketball until the seventh grade when he reluctantly went out for the school team. In 2001, Curry led his team to second place in the IHSA State Playoffs. He was named to the 1998, 1999 and 2000 State Farm Holiday Classic all-tournament teams.
Curry is one of three current professional athletes who call Thornwood their alma mater, the others being MLB pitcher Mark Mulder and outfielder Cliff Floyd.

Eddy Curry Facts:
In 2008-09, Eddy Curry was a fat load of blubber who stole $9.7 million dollars from the Knicks last season. He played less than 11 minutes for the entire season.
Eddy Curry has a player option contract for 2 more years, totaling $22,000,000. Unless Blue Whale sheds 70 pounds, the Knicks summer of 2010 is seriously compromised in terms of having enough cap-space to sign a real NBA player who can actually fit into his jersey.
Eddy Curry has the heart of a hummingbird when it comes to "aspiring" to be anything more than a circus freak on the NBA hardwood. He has not proven anything to me since his "break-out" season, in which he fooled all of his fans into thinking that he may just be a "player".
Eddy Curry is the poster child for overpaid, fat, slothful athletes who have some level of "skillz" but also have no motivation to improve upon them. Any 26 year old professional basketball player who is already twice as overweight and out of shape as the retired Charles Barkley, should be banned from the sport.
Eddy Curry should be waived by NY if he doesn't come into the summer preseason camp in NBA shape.
Those are the only facts that matter.

you don't think it's interesting that Curry was a gymnast? I am sure most would, that maybe he was once svelt and an athlete, and that he would like to return to that form before his pro days are numbered.
personally I don't care if the guy is 500lbs if he can play and contribute.

Maybe I misread the "factoid", but I thought he was an "aspiring" gymnast. It has already been proved that Eddy cannot contribute or play NBA ball in his current condition, Mouse. Not only that, but Eddy's agent had to speak on his behalf when it came to the summer weight issue. I find it more interesting that Eddy did not personally step onto the MSG court in the last game of the season and promise all Knick fans that he would shed the requisite weight and come into next season in NBA shape, and not the 8th continent of the planet. Personally, I pray that Curry can play next year, if only to get his lazy, uninspired fat contract off of the payroll. If he can contribute to an NBA championship, fine. I seriously doubt he has the heart, soul, and desire to do so.

Curry will be in shape this season. As most players he will be motivated by his next paycheck. I can remember a couple of seasons ago when the Knicks played the suns Curry got alot of open slam dunks when he ran the floor on the fast break. If Curry was in shape and could run the floor, he could get so many easy slam dunks in this system. Hopefully all the trying events Curry has faced this past season will make him more serious and discipline as a man. He is still young and if he can become a serious athlete, or a workout junkie his talent can be maximized. However, im just feeling optimistic since its the offseason. I live in Los Angeles and im so jealous the Knicks arent in the playoffs, especially now that the games are getting so physical and intense. It reminds mo of the battles with the heat. Hopefully the knicks can be competetive in the near future. The main ingredient that has stoped us the most is luck.

Hi Mercury...
Curry has a guaranteed player contract for 2 more seasons, thus he really has little motivation to get into shape. I do hope you are right that his off the court problems somehow hit home, and he gets serious. He is only 26 years old.
I think we had to be "bad" this season in order to be that competitive team by 2010. Donnie Walsh, IMHO, has done a terrific job in shedding payroll. Now, it is nearly the time for him to work some more miracles by working the draft, maybe trading away an expiring contract for a 2010 draft pick, and making another trade which will help NY without killing the salary cap.
