I am very pleased by the participation on this board but I would like to expand it. Any member can invite whoever they wish to participate on this board. They can be friends, co-workers or on another board or forum. We should be looking for good basketball fans (they don't have to be Knicks fans ; ) who are knowledgeable and civil. That last part is important as we don't want hotheads, ego maniacs, kooks or people with an agenda. In other words half the old AOL gang. Just email this link to those you may deem worthy: knicksknacks.proboards.com/index.cgi?Once new members have signed up the rules are pretty simple. Be nice. Be respectful. Be humble. The basketball area is for basketball with an occasional dalliance in women and other sports. I propose a simple system for "managing" a growing board. First we form an executive committee. I pick Ken, Jason, Mouse and Babylon. I pick them because not only are they great posters but they are also the four most prolific posters behind me. Second, we all know how to use the EXALT link to give Karma. If anybody steps out of line use the SMITE link BUT send a private message to me telling me why you did it and I will keep a record. I think 5 SMITES (or whatever number y'all decide) gets somebody warned. 5 more gets them banned for say 30 days and a repeated habit of bad behavior gets you banned. I can track IP addresses so if somebody gets banned and wants to come back I shall give them a mighty smite from the gitgo. To send a Private Message just click on a member's name and it takes you to an info page. On the left side under the member's name is a PM icon. Some of us also have email icons so make sure you use the right one. A Private Message is only seen by the person you send it to and is only accessed through this board. If you look at the top of any page it should say "Hey whatever your screen name is, you have X messages and Y are new". My PM link is: knicksknacks.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=viewprofile&user=irish2u2Please post your thoughts, ideas or opinions about this idea. I love the people we have here now but it gets more dynamic the larger we get.

Does this mean no Jimmy and KT Black . Maybe we should take a vote. Personally I'd rather have Bristol Palin. Even Sarah Palin. I can see Cuba from my front porch.

irish,
I would be honored, BUT under one condition......
well two....actually:
Terror can not invite KT. And no one can invite Applaud.
irish,
As to Sarah Palin. I saw this nice bumper sticker that said, "Hey Sarah! I can see the moon from my window. Does that make me an astronaut?"
P.S. No one has heard from Jimmy ever since Marbury was let go by the team.

Bill...
I am honored to join the executive committee and look forward to the board's expansion, too. You made what was supposed to be an emergency place for us, and now I see this place as my second home, to be honest.
Thank you for the inclusion, and I look forward to any help I can lend. Since we have a high level of Knicks thinkers and posters and have yet to see anything remotely resembling a KT or Jimmy aka "Comical" post surface in the one and a half years I've been here, I think that we may not have any problems with suspending anyone currently on the board.
Yet, I do think Babylon's caveats must be taken seriously. We want to keep this oasis as toxic free as it has been, and most of us know the old instigators.
I think 5 "Smites" is more than enough leeway, and for any knew folks who will certainly want to know about this alternative to the AOL boards, we (you) should probably put together a "Bill" of Rights before people can enter into our place of refuge? I'm sure we all know what should be included in this.
Thank you, again, for your nomination, Bill. It means a lot to me.

Gang
I think it goes without saying posters like KT and Jimmy or those looking for attention by being jerks are not welcome here. As Ken so eloquently put it...this is an oasis and we should endeavor to keep it that way.
On the other hand anybody with a strong opinion who can back it up is more than welcome. We want discussion. We don't want a bunch of sycophants. Frankly I have disagreed with everyone here at some point in time and that's the fun of this board. You make and support your case and try to keep an open mind because there have been times, too many to count, where I have been dead wrong.
I hate when that happens. ; )
Down the line we can even hold "elections" for our 5 man Executive Committee. By no means am I Head Honcho for Life. ; ) I leave that singular honor to those like Idi Amin. How did that turn out for him anyways? ; )
This is our board and WE all have a say in it, who governs it and how it is run.

kgooglog,
Once more we are in agreement. We have a wonderful mix here, representing all viewpoints. While we don't always agree, we are civil towards one and other. The LAST thing we need here is to have this turn into a pissing contest between guys.
On the other hand, it would be nice to have invite other "like-minded" Knick fans here. And when I say like-minded, I am not looking to bring in more dark siders, but, rather, fans who are as passionate and polite as we currently have here.
Lastly, after looking at the Knicks board on AOL, I, for the life of me, would not feel comfortable inviting anyone there to this board. But I did send out an invitation to Sofia Vergara....it is my early Christmas present for kgooglog.

I have to throw in my 2 cents...which is about all I have left after entering the medicare donut hole.
1. Please no KT Black. I engage him on AOL because that board is basically dead. But he is no Knick fan. He is however a cancer in the clubhouse.
2. No Jimmy...He has been on the Met board in the last few months. Any disagreement with him leads to him insulting the poster. Eventually he becomes anti-semitic and anti-white. I actually feel hate for him and I can't say that for anyone else, even KT.
3. Applaud is actually a true Knicks fan. In controversial debates he actually shows a lot of character and appears to be a good person. His negatives are that his posts are inane, simplistic, and quite irritating. He posts rumors as facts and is master of the one sentence post. If push comes to shove he probably should stick to AOL...but his character is harmless, although its as annoying as hemmorhoids.
GO KNICKS !

GG You would have been a lock as my personal choice for the "Gang of Five" but I had to be fair. With so many terrific candidates (which means all of y'all ; ) I decided to use the simplest formula. Those with the most posts get the gig. Later we all can change my dogmatic methodology.

I'm thinking the talent on the old AOL board is here. ; )
We have to find new blood so if you are on the RealGM or Newsday (for example) boards and run across a poster who is a fit for here by all means extend him an invitation. He or she can kick the tires here and see if we are interesting enough to invest time and effort and we can do the same in a more benign way.
FWIW some of my favorite posters were NOT Knicks fans....

Gates and kman,
I tried like hell to get Applaud to just tone it down a little, but he drove me insane. He is way to locked into trying to impress us with his "superior" basketball wisdom.
Sad, because he does seem to be a nice guy. But he drove me insane with his fraking LeBron guarantee. What did it for me is when he posted that Stern was going to broker a secret deal to bring LeBron to New York.
