Gotta love Rose man. In addition to a second rounder and the 23rd pick that ended up being Quickley, the Knicks received the draft rights to another player:
He is a French born draft and stash that is currently playing for Bayern Munich Germany. He is a 6'9" power forward that defends and has a strong interior game.
Here's like one of the first videos I found of him:

Merci d' avoir poster, Jason! Je suis impatient de le voir en uniforme de Knicks à l'avenir! Yes, I’m playing with my translate app!

He reminds me of Harrell. I like what I see.

Obi Toppin is a terrible pick. In the package presented by ESPN there was not one mention of defense. This guy either won't or cannot play defense. Vassell and AVdija were available and one of them should have been the pick. Then they should have made a move to get Kira Lewis Jr I rate Toppin"s ceiling as no higher than Kevin Knox, and that is really low. Hope I'm wrong but there is no evidence to prove that. It will be another bleak season for Knicks fans.

Probably best offensive player in the draft who acknowledges he needs to improve on defense and is excited to play for the fucking BEST defensive coach in the NBA.

what is Avdija's flaw? I don't see any. Shoots well, initiates plays(point forward skills) and is rated at least good on defense. If the knicks had somehow gotten avdija and Lewis and got rid of Randle they would then be playing a run and gun offense which would match up well with RJ's and Mitchell's skills. As long as Randle is on the Knicks RJ and Mitchell will never reach their ceilings.

I said I would have picked Deni too, but I’m guessing he fell to nine for a reason. Obviously NBA people didn’t agree with draft experts. A criticism I heard with Deni is that while he’s good in all facets of the game, he really doesn’t stand out at any. I think his stock was so high because everyone is now looking for the next Luka Doncic and he was the closest thing in the draft to him, but at least eight GM’s didn’t agree with that assessment. And although Obi was rated behind Deni in most final mocks, let’s not forget the earlier mocks had him going as high as the first three picks and I even saw one where he was the first pick in the draft! Why players rise and fall late during a pandemic where there are no games and the workouts are individual is beyond me. And while Obi is a poor defender, I’m sure Thibs saw something there he can work with or they wouldn’t have drafted him. Thibs and Rose are close and I’m sure he had a big say in the matter. And if you watch his highlight reel I see lots of blocks and steals, and that’s part of defense last time I checked. I guess we’ll find out starting in less than a month.

To add to this, NY seems over trying to convert Euro players into stars. He may have a star career or not, but there are only so many Dirks, Pau Gasols, and Doncic type players to go around. Obi Toppin was the AP player of the year. As long as we play to his strengths, it wasnt the time to get cute with the pick. Advija was said to have slow lateral quickness, plays average defense, and doesn't seem to have that takeover gene to be a star despite doing some things well. I imagine that is why some better shooters and defenders went ahead of him. He might be Peja Stoyakivic(sp?) and while that's ok you don't draft that at 8. He isn't Doncic.
