The way things are shaping up I really don't envision a Knicks Trade except to pick up a late first rounder (or early second rounder).
The Clips are most definitely picking Blake Griffin and Memphis will pick Thabeet (even if they trade him afterward). The remaining players can be thrown in a barrel to me. Rubio reminds me of Kidd with the great court vision and terrible shot. At 6-5 and 190 I see him going inside and some C and PF saying "lets each take a leg and make a wish". Too skinny. Kidd was more solidly built.
Harden is a solid all around team player but sometimes disappears, and Curry is a great shooter (but a little slow for a PG).
Evans, Flynn, and Hill excite me more for what they do and Derozan for what he might do as he matures.
The rest are good players that can fit a need and the Knicks by getting a late first rounder can choose from PGs Lawson Holliday, and Collison,or a number of PFs and SFs (like Buddinger).
It should be fun and I'm sure Spike will rave over anyone the Knicks get. Its a tradition by now.

My thoughts on today is the hope that the Knicks don't play it safe. They can draft a second tier PG at #8 and everyone will do golf claps. If somebody like Hill, Evans or Curry slips it's a no brainer but if we are forced to use our noggins making this pick I really hope we take a shot at a guy who could be a star and not just fill a need or keep the fans in MSG happy.
My picks at #8, again barring somebody falling to us that right now is a lock to be picked higher, would be either DeRozan or Clark. If the Knicks are looking at buying a late first round pick and assuming Ty Lawson is gone by then I like them taking a shot with Daniel Hackett. He's not flashy but he is effective and I like his size at PG. I am sure Gary would be thrilled to hear me say this but Hackett and DeRozan would be a nice haul....
Of course the Knicks could take a chance on Nick Calathes. He's a better shooter than Hackett, more creative and even taller at 6'6. His lack of athleticism is an issue. Hackett is a much better athlete and defender. Calathes might be a better offensive fit.
I agree that unless Donnie Walsh is showing WSOP mad skills we are standing pat with the #8 pick. If we do so then let's use this pick to really try and do better than a qualified starter or good sub.

My thoughts on today revolve around that Memphis #2 pick, and, yes, I want Rubio, who reminds me so much of Pete Maravich that I pray Donnie can extend the Q trade for that pick. I also want (wish or hope) that if Donnie can get the #2 and take Rubio, we can still have our #8. This is where, and I am almost misty-eyed in saying this, we may need to part with Wilson Chandler, who is our most coveted chip, IMHO.
If, hypothetically, we can get that #2 pick, I would then go for the best PF available at number 8. My thinking is that David Lee is as good as gone, unless he does not receive a better offer than the paltry qualifying one. However, we may still need to get another guard in order to offset the loss of Chandler and Nate--that is, if WC is going to Memphis. I think Rubio would go well with Tyreke Evans, IMHO, and this has the potential (I hate that word) to be our "Bentley Backcourt" for years to come.
We also have that Jared Jeffries card which Washington wants. If Mike James does come on board for Jeffries, Donnie has done a masterful job in terms of the cap situation. I have a funny feeling that another scenario may come out in a couple of weeks, with Jeffries and Nate Robinson going to Sacramento for Kenny Thomas and the Kings may be making a pick for New York, which may play out if Steph Curry is picked by Sacramento.
Now, back to David Lee. I am almost certain that David may be traded to Toronto, with Mobley's contract, for Chris Bosh on or after July 9th. I just keep remembering an article whereby Lee's name was linked to CB4's and was heard around MSG...
I am also interested in a report that my dad told me concerning Fat ass. It was stated on a sports radio program that Eddy alledgedly lost 30 pounds since the end of the season and is working out in the hopes that NY will retain him in some capacity. My gut tells me that this report must have been generated by Dolan's lackeys, in order to boost Eddy's trade value. If Donnie Walsh can dump Curry, and it may take Mobley's contract to seal the deal with an under-the-cap team who needs cap-relief anyway and will take a shot at the Whale.

Kenny
A couple of things. Lee has to want to go to Toronto in order to make a deal for CB4. That's certainly a fly in the ointment. ; )
Rumors about Eddy Curry will come and go but if Eddy does get traded off a report he has lost 30lbs and shows up to his new team for a physical still looking like Shamu the trade can be canceled. That doesn't matter though because there is no GM in the game right now who trades for Eddy based on the report he might be in shape. If he is in shape. Losing 30lbs is a good start but IMHO Eddy has another 20 to go to be effective.

I wonder if this is a prelude to a blockbuster tonight? No way will Lee agree to go to Toronto. Maybe a three-way deal can be worked out, or Eddy can start wiring his fat jaw shut...

Restricted free agency allows to keep players we like too. ; ) The NBA Giveth and the NBA taketh away. ; )
I think we got that Lakers pick because we want to draft somebody who should be available that low. I don't think it's part of the "big" plan if indeed there is a "big" plan in place. ; )
As always I could be wrong. ; ) It's not like I don't know THAT feeling. ; )

The reasons the Lakers sold the pick is that there is a 3 year price tag associated with the pick and the Lakers are trying to sign both free agents Lamar Odom and Trevor Ariza.
The Lakers are one fo the few teams still owned by a single owner (Jerry Buss) and he is adverse to paying cap money.
They dont need to pay for a potential 13th player from the draft. The money from the Knicks also goes for paying increase in salaries for the above free agents.
