Assuming that Griffin, Rubio and Thabeet go in the top 5, a reasonable assumption, one of the decent guards or Jordan Hill has to be available @ #8. Hill, Evans, Curry, Jennings, Flynn, Lawson, Holliday equals 7, so two of them will be available at #8. That is simple math. I would easily take Hill or Evans, then probably, reluctantly Curry. The last 4 would be a crap shoot. I'd probably stick my neck out and take Lawson. Lawson @ 8 is probably no bigger a gamble than Rubio or Thabeet @ 2. I just hope either Hill or Evans falls to #8, and I think Evans might. I think if Hill, Evans and Curry are all gone, then it will be either Jennings or DeRozan. DeRozan would be interestingly scary. Jennings more of a gamble. So I think the Knicks choices will come down to Lawson, DeRozan and Jennings, with an outside shot at Evans or Hill. Also one must factor in James Harden who will also probably be one of the top five, leaving one more choice for the Knicks. Someone reasonably good, that fits should be available @ 8. So I am cautiously optimistic that the Knicks will get someone good, who fits @ 8. We shall see Thursday Night. I think it will come down to what Donnie Nelson does......Hill or Curry, that will greatly affect the Knicks.

operative word in this thread is RUMOR Rumor is right and it's a common practice to run a little misdirection on draft night. The annoying part is most NBA teams wait till Draft Night before revealing their plans if they are going to deal or who they might draft so it's gonna seem like forever till Thursday night gets here. ; ) I think I should run a thread on just what the Knicks will do Thursday night. ; )

in some ways this is the best time of the year (this decade). we all can dream of what a little luck and guile might bring us. any thing can happen (and usually doesn't) but we can dream and talk and.... ??

Rene
Right now we are picking 8th and that is a crap shoot especially in a draft with as many question marks as this one. At this moment I am torn in my choice but maybe leaning towards rolling the dice with Louisville SF Earl Clark who is 6'10, wildly athletic and with great skills. The knock on him is he doesn't step up in big games and inconsistency. Everything else about him is off the charts so I am all for taking a chance.
More important to the Knicks unless we make a dramatic draft day trade for the #2 pick is finding a way to trade Jared Jefferies, what to do with David Lee and Nate Robinson and somehow making Eddy Curry into a player we can deal this season.
I like the proposed Darko Milicic for Q trade even though I learned a long time ago that third and fourth chances generally fail. Still, Darko has a lot of talent and natural attributes and maybe D'Antoni can light his pilot light and get something out of him. That could be important if we somehow "steal" a bust and make him a player.
We have a year to assemble a team that could interest LeBron James. That is the Knicks challenge. A draft day steal helps but I won't hang my hat on it either. ; )
