Just read on RealGM that the Suns and Timberwolves are reportedly discussing a deal that would send Amare Stoudemire to Minnesota for Al Jefferson and the 6th pick. If such a deal goes through, I wonder who Phoenix would target in the draft and how it could effect us at 8?

I believe the Wolves are giving up way to much for Amare. The Celtics actually gave less for KG. It sounds like the Knicks are going to move up in the draft. They will probally make a deal with Memphis for the the 2 pick and Darko with David Lee going in return. What makes this deal so good if it happens is the Knicks keep the 8 pick. This greatly helps in our rebuilding efforts. Then the question becomes who do we take with the 2nd pick. Rubio would be my guess, but I really have no idea about his game or upside. Or do the knicks take a big like Jordan Hill or Hasheem. Hill can run , jump, and shoot and would probally be the center on a Dantoni team. Whatever we do with the 2nd pick effects our choice with the 8th pick. If the Knicks go with Rubio the 8th pick could be used on Tyreke Evans, Derozan, TWILL the only other big around this pick will be Blair but I dont think he fits our system. If the pick is Hill then the Knikcs could go with Jennings or Flynn. Alan Hahn was disscussing this possible trade and even mentioned if the Knicks get the 2nd pick they might use it on Curry. Its quite funny how Curry at first was thought to be a stretch at 8, but now IS being mentioned at 2. IT would be very intresting is the Knicks took Rubio a 2 and Curry was still on the board at 8. The best case scenario would be Hill at 2 and Curry at 8.

I wrote a couple of posts on this board about David Lee NOT being available for a draft day trade. Lee is eligible to negotiate contracts on July 9th and he would have to be on board with any team that wants him meaning he won't be going to Memphis. He shot down Memphis this past season as a potential landing spot by having his agent tell them he would not sign an extension with the Grizzlies. In a sign and trade scenario Lee has all the chips in his pocket so it has to be a team he likes, that wins and where he feels comfortable. I still keep thinking Portland might be a choice for him. Or Atlanta.
I do agree the Wolves are giving up too much for Amare. My thinking is the Suns are looking at a PG at #6 or a replacement for Amare which means Jordan Hill who is very good, very talented and from the home state university.

Irish while I was writting the post I was thinking about Lee blocking the Memphis trade last year, and just kept writting anyways, but you are right. The only deal I could figure out with Portland would be Blake and Outlaw at 4 million apiece. that 8 million would cover Lees salary for the first year. However, I dont know if I like this trade. The only reason I picked Outlaw and Blake was because they only have 1 year left under contract.

How about Martell Webster, if he is healthy. A big swingman with range on his shot and athletic ability. He was coming into his own in 2007-08 till he injured his foot and missed last year. I hear the injury is progressing well according to a YouTube video from Tuesday.
Of course anybody who covets Josh Smith knows Lee would be in those talks making Atlanta a player for Lee too. I know Portland wants Lee but the real bargaining chips they have, a late first round pick and 4 second round picks, are not going to be part of a Lee package. Webster is a good player but risky and certainly Lee is worth more. I like the idea of Webster and outlaw but the Blazers won't go there. Or will they? ; )
