Two days ago I received a phone call telling my that my sister had committed suicide.

This past summer my sister had received the news that her immune system was failing her and she faced severe medical problems and that any infection would be considered life threatening. To make matter worse, my sister was extremely allergic to antibiotics.

As you all know I suffer with my own health issues, but nothing which is life threatening. While I knew that she was having some health issues, she never told me how bad off she actually was. Maybe if I had known, maybe I could have done more, said more, or something.

As you can imagine my whole family is in a state of shock.

If it wouldn't be too much to ask for, if each of you just say a prayer for me sister, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am so sorry to hear that devastating news. Sports become so unimportant when real life tragedies occur. Take care of yourself and stay strong for your family. All my prayers and best wishes for you and your loved ones.

Oh my goodness Nic, words cannot describe how much I'm sorry for your loss. I rarely come through the main part of the site and usually just go through the bookmark of the basketball page but I saw this and had to chime in brother. In the name of the creator I hope you and your family find peace, healing and renewed love amongst each other. GOD bless man.

Babs. I am so sorry for your loss. This is horrendous and I have no words other than prayer. But do remember there are a bunch of guys here that do feel for you and will miss you. Mad love for you my brother.

Nic, words fail me and you know that almost never happens to me.

My sincere and heartfelt condolences to you and your family during this terrible, tragic time. My sole piece of advice is that you don't feel guilty. Even if you knew and tried to intercede the odds are it wouldn't have changed anything. Sadness and grief are so hard to bear by themselves but you add guilt and the burden can become unendurable. Your sister has moved past the pain and into the light. Celebrate her life. Mourn her loss. Remember we are here for you if needed.
