Today Amare was quoted on the Brandon Tierney show saying he was better than Bosh, and would love to play in NY in 2010. Reported by Berman. What does everyone think? Amare is injury prone....few knee injuries and a recurrent eye problem. Who would we rather have? I also have liked the idea of signing the Birdman and have been thinking of that in the back of my mind for several months now.

No.
I watched a lot of Amare this season and while I think he is physically fine (though I still question his overall health) and he has a ton of skills he is a problem player in the lockerroom and on the court. He is selfish. He can be somewhat lazy or lackadaisical when he is on defense or doesn't have the ball.
I'd much rather have Bosh who is younger, healthier and close in skills. Bosh is also a good team guy and he plays with intensity.
As for the Birdman he is an enigma to me. On the surface he seems to have put all his issues behind him but one look at him and it's clear he has some issues left. ; ) He is an absolute zero on offense, something D'Antoni wouldn't like, but he counters that with constant hustle and a gift for getting to shots and either blocking them or influencing them. The trouble is he is a skinny PF who happens to play a lot of center. In Denver he does fine because they got Nene and Kenyon Martin to add some muscle alongside him but on the Knicks he wouldn't have that kind of help.

Irish i respect your basketball knowledge and would like to know what you think about Gortat from the Magic, and if you think he could help the Knicks. I only ask because he will also be a freeagent this off season.

I like Bosh, but I think I'd take a Amare, although not for a max contract. draft curry and sign Amare/Johnson curry/Nash joe johnson/chandler chandler/ danillo/Lee/Amare amare/Lee/Curry
That is not a bad looking team

I am amazed Tony Battie doesn't play more behind Howard but Gortat has shown some ability at both ends of the floor though he is slow and not athletic at all. In playoff half-court oriented basketball he looks to be a better than average backup center. In our style of play he would be on oxygen in the first 5 minutes.

I like Bosh, but I think I'd take a Amare, although not for a max contract. draft curry and sign Amare/Johnson curry/Nash joe johnson/chandler chandler/ danillo/Lee/Amare amare/Lee/Curry That is not a bad looking team Axios As I said, it's attitude more than anything that troubles me with Amare. Call it petulance or apathy but both are present with Amare and the only time I see the guy animated is if he gets the ball and dunks or he doesn't get the ball and he rages. It has been rumored he and Nash don't get along and it was more public that Amare and Marion were not BFFs. I'll take your lineup with Joe Johnson and with Chris Bosh substituted for Amare and like it. A lot. It's not a bad consolation prize for missing out on LeBron to add two All-Star players. I'm not so sure on Nash though. I hear UCLA PG Jrue Holliday is climbing the charts as rapidly as Ty Lawson is falling. The scouts at the Chicago combine had great things to say about Holliday and Stephen Curry too as a very accomplished combo guard who might be better at PG than most think. I also note you keep Lee but not Nate which makes sense but what do we get for Nate? The real key this offseason is if we don't sign Lee and Nate we must get something in return. Get another pick high enough and take either Holiday or Curry and then maybe Tyreke Evans as a SG. Or maybe DeJuan Blair who somebody here liked a lot. He is a legit 6'7, maybe taller in sneakers, he has lost another 15lbs and he has looked great in camp so far. If we trade Lee....

I agree w you abt his attitude but I think Id take either for the right price. Im not smart enough to figure out what walsh will do w Lee and Nate, but Im sure he wont let Lee walk for nothing , as for Nate, I dont know what he can pull off. Id be happy with Curry/Derozan/Evans/Flynn or Jrue. Im more confused this year than last. Last yr I wanted Gordon/Lopez/Danillo, this year I keep vacillating back and forth, although I think im stuck on Curry right now. Ive convinced myself that he will be a player and now seeing he measured a legit 6.335 in shoes and "supposedly" still growing, Im in.

Neil:
I actually believe Bosh is better tham Amare. I know Amare is trying to sell himself and that is fine, however, Bosh is more complete in my view.
I think Amare is also a bit of a brooder, similar to the way Spencer Haywood was for the Knicks, way back. Very good talent, but doesn't make anyone better. Bosh does.

Pearl I'm not sure if I like Bosh's game more than Amare's overall right now, but for our franchise big man I would probably take CB4 for the long haul....As Bill mentioned, locker room problem, jealous over other guys contracts, etc...he won't settle for less then Max in NY. As for the draft, I don't think Curry is the player I want in the draft. As far as David Lee, anyway we can package the general and/or another player with (and/or) our pick for Memphis' #2 and a player?

Neil:
CB4 works for me, he is a tremendous talent and I believe he wants out of Toronto.
Interesting scenario regarding David Lee to Memphis, packaged with another player for their number 2. I do like Lee a lot, however, if the Knicks can get a center, which they desperately need, it might be a tough deal to turn down.
