How about the Knicks go after Chris "The Birdman" Anderson. I just checked and his contract which is just under $1mil is up this years, making him a free agent. Sure there might be some risk involved, and he's not really a center, but can masquerade as one until we get a real one. Could we get him for the MLE? I still like Pietrus, Kleiza and Azubuike as missing pieces of the puzzle( not all of them but just one), while we form a supporting cast for 2010. I just hope we draft Evans or even Lawson and not Curry. I still don't see him fitting in, and defensively I'd much rather have Evans. The Knicks score enough, what they need is a perimeter defender, plus an inside presence defensively. Anderson and Evans would provide that quite well. It would at least be a start. It would not hopefully be the end-product, but the beginnings of a new kind of knicks team. Sign Anderson, draft Tyreke Evans trade some combination of Hughes/Harrington/Nate/Jeffries for a 2010 draft pick, where we can get Aldrich or J. Jordan, and the Knicks are ready for the class of 2010. If Gallinari comes back healthy, probably don't need Pietrus or Klieza, but Azubuike would still be a good addition. Offense may get you through the regular season, but defense is what gets you through the playoffs. That is obvious, this year especially. Also I believe Trevor Ariza is a free agent after this year.

I think the Knicks should take a look at the magics back up center Gortat, and the birdman.
