...the NY Knicks would have no luck at all. For the third time since they started the draft lottery the Clippers get the #1 choice. The Knicks didn't move up at all and stayed #8.
Just once it would be nice to be on the lucky side of a lottery.

The fact is Blake Griffin could be an impact player right out of the box. Ricky Rubio is young and needs to get a little stronger but his game could impact the right team out of the box too. For us it could be as simple as Thabeet. It's a lot to ask a rookie to take a major role on a team but the truth is with some interior defense the Knicks are a playoff team. Thabeet might have been able to provide that presence inside. I am comfortable with Stephen Curry if we select him. I do think he can play PG and he is a very smart young man and he has great skills for the system we run. He can get his shot off the dribble. He can get his shot off movement. He has a quick release and he is deadly accurate. He has some PG skills. I'm disappointed (a little) that we didn't get a shot at Griffin, Rubio or Thabeet. Any of those 3 guys would have been great for the Knicks. Picks 4 and down are all crapshoots but there are some interesting kids there too. Still it sucks to know New Jersey has had more #1 overall picks than the Knicks.

Right before they revealed the eighth pick I started praying to let that be the turning point. Maybe they need to return to the "shuffle" form to bring us luck, LOL! That is the way it was done in 85 correct? I do agree with Bill that with some interior defense we are a playoff team, and therefore that is why I feel a presence in the middle is our most important priority. I am in no way saying we dont need help at other positions, but I believe Utah gets our pick next year so we need to make a serious playoff push. At our position, I dont see the draft helping us any as far as a 5 goes. Im sure the big man auditions will continue through summer league and training camp and of course Walsh will keep his eye on the trading market. Bill's boy Dalembert could no doubt help but I dont believe Walsh wouldnt want his contract. I could see Walsh making another play for Marcus Camby though. Who knows, maybe Eddy Curry will arrive at camp in shape and prove all the doubters wrong, he is indeed the next Shaquille Oneal! Sure, if only we were in the twilight zone.
