Why not? He upped his trade value after a month in D'Antoni's doghouse.

It could be done with the understanding we release some of the players that the Celtics send us because they would have to include at least Brian Scalabrine, Eddie House and Tony Allen who all have expiring contracts. They might want/need a few of those guys back. ; ) Throw in a draft choice and it's a deal.

Scalabrine makes 3.4M, Allen 2.5m and House 2.9m, adding up to 8.8m, more than double Nate's 4m salary. I don't think the NBA rules allow you to do that trade. The salaries have to be within 20% of each other is my understanding of the CBA rules. So they would have to send us maybe two of those guys plus the draft pick, which might work. Unless we send them someone back like Milicic. I would not do this deal without receiving their 1st round pick, as high(or low) as it may be. Do they own any other team's 1st rounder? I haven't researched that, but I don't think so. Their pick will probably be 25-30 which will not get us Cole Aldrich or Jerome Jordan or a decent point guard, but I still want the pick, just in case. Another posssibility is to take Bill Walker or Big Baby instead of Scalabrine or Allen. I think House could be of some use. I think Allen is done, and Scalabrine can shoot, but would be redundant, and not get any playing time, even if somehow a roster spot opened up. The reality is that the Celtics don't have what the Knicks need, nothing even close.

Iron
Nate and Jefferies. They make roughly 10.5 between them.
For Nate alone I want an expiring deal (Scalabrine), Bill Walker and a draft pick. It's potentially a lot for the Celtics to give up but they know what they get and we don't. A healthy Walker and it becomes a steal.

I won't do that deal those players are useless and the 1st eounders it;s too low for N8,we can buy a pick for three million and give up no players, unless they take Jeffries no deal,I would explore all avenues before a trade with the hated Celtics,no way to I just give them N8 to help them.

I'm sure the Celtics want Nate and the Knicks would like Kevin Garnett. Dumb rumor/non-story taken way to seriously.

I dont think its not a true rumor because basically it started in two publications and amongst fan blogs in Boston. Not to mention a quote from Doc Rivers about the challenge of taking on what the league considers risk players.
The problem that i have is helping a playoff juggernaut in any way shape or form outside of the starters and Eddie House this team's role players are not what we need, covet or should after. Forget the rival thing with Boston for a second, its just bad business to make a lateral move for a guy who might ask for his release to go back to the Celtics in House and their pick which would be 29th or 30th, to get rid of Nate who is not even a player who we are in need to get rid of.
Jeffries with Nate then maybe i revisit talks but no team wants Jeffries or NOW Curry for even their worst player. So i say no deal because we have chips that keep them in title contention forever and they have old guys or useless no names outside of the top 7 dudes on their team that a rebuilding team like ours shouldnt even think about. Now OKC, Memphis and Sac-Town are the teams we should make a compromise with to see if they want a hill/Jeffries or Hughes/Jeffries package for expirings.
I would even see if Sacremento would send us Kenny Thomas and his expiring st8 up for Curry or talk to chicago for a st8 for Jerome James' expiring for Curry as both deal as far as business and cap economics would have us the cap winners next season to sign more guys than just Lebron or just Wade. Player wise downgrade but smart business and not these dumb Boston deals should we look into.

Stated again:
Notice that we get no notice when Walsh makes a deal, "Where there is smoke there is fire: is not Donnie's style. His deals so far have not been related to any rumors. While most Knick trade rumors have turned into nothing but board-fodder.
If you want to have fun speculating on a trade how about prying DJ Augustine from the gaurd-heavy Bobcats? I don't know if we have the goods but Jeffries would help them up front.
