Would anyone trade Curry and Jefferies for Arenas and Washingtons number 1 pick in the next draft? We would still have our 2010 cap space, but lose are 2011 cap space.

Give me a good rational explanation as to why the Wizards would do that deal. I don't see any. First, from the Knicks point of view, Arenas's contract goes on forever at close to and eventually over 20mil per year. Second, it is entirely possible that the Wizards can nullify said contract. I am sure they are looking into it, or at least their lawyers are. What use would they have for Curry? They have bigs. As Knicks GM, I would not trade for Arenas, when it is possible, his contract will be voided, he will be in jail for 6 months, and after that he may be a free agent. Also he is not a point guard, so who would you bench, Chandler? As the Wizards GM, I would not make the trade either. Not when there is a chance at just letting Arenas walk for nothing, saving a cool $100mil over 5 years, for an idiot trouble maker. I certainly would not throw in the #1 draft choice either. As either GM, i am sitting and waiting until the fog of the law clears completely.

Do a Donnie, and be patient. Arroyo may become available, Augustin may become available. Arroyo is a short-term solution, and Augustin more long-term. Both have flaws in their game, but as stop-gaps, to get us through this season, either will do. Curry and Jeffries are going nowhere, unless the Knicks include Chandler or Harrington in a deal to get rid of them, and even then, I don't think there will be any takers.

Good points iron. I should have clarified. I was suggesting the scenario only if Arenas did no jail time, and the Wizards couldnt void his contract. Another issue with Arenas is his knee isues, even without the trouble with the guns his knee is a red flag. It seems Arenas would be more of an Isiah move than a Donnie one. However, if the wizards cant void his contract the Wizards and Arenas will be in a weird situation together. The Wizards will likely get the very short end of a deal to get rid of Arenas.

a. no matter what becomes of the arenas sich', I can't imagine a scenario where Grunfeld would take Curry, Jeffries and give up a 1st rounder to get rid of his tract , which will likely be voided. That whole proposal is a hometown fans' wet basketball dream.
b. watching and reading about the actions of Arenas during this episode leads me to conclude he's a really big jerk, so why do I want to bring another overpaid allstar ass to the knicks, especially one with bad knees? Despite his contrite press release, these are usually written by agents and team lawyers to make sure the spin-spins the right way, Arenas has mocked the incident and made light of it right in front of the crowd. Now he's blaming Grunfeld and Wiz management for "snitching on him".
Arenas has a 111 mill contract, bad knees and bad head. If we want another jerky player who does not take responsibility and blames others for his folly, we can get Marbury without the guns, for a box of Crackerjax.
disclaimer; I am not advocating Marbury, just making a sort of comparison.
