OK, I like D'Antoni but last night versus Chicacgo was one of the poorest games I saw coached in quite a while.
The Knicks were entering a game in which the opponent was decimated from recent game events Logic says you get them down for a half and you get a W most likely. Couple that with a back to back game coming up tonight and a man down (Hughes) and it also says that you extend your bench.
Not Mike. He doesnt only have a doghouse, but a whole kennel. The Knicks come out and have a 17 point lead with good team defense played by the Knicks. They fall in love with the three and start lofting it up fromm downtown South Bend and hit a drought not seen in the midwest since the Great Depression.
What happened to Toney, Darko, Nate the skate, Hill, or even Landry? Curry was a figment of our imagination. I know he lost a lot of weight but when did he dissapear altogether? Even if just to rest the regulars and change the pace of the game. The knciks looked tired and hoisted short arm shots that made them look like T-rexes. If there was a full moon the whole bench would be baying from their kennel spot.
Whats with D'Antoni in not taking timeouts and banning the three the rest of the game? And when does Galinari find out there is a game allowed inside the 3 point line?
Encouraged as I was in the Knicks recent run I am that disgusted at last nights game which probably results in a loss tonight form the tired five as well. Gary

Two straight games we have seen victory snatched by defeat and mainly because we play, at times, some pretty stupid basketball. A lot of that stupidity comes from the bench. When guys started jacking up low percentage shots D'Antoni should have yanked them, specifically Harrington. Not using Nate to make some kind of point makes the coach seem even more stupid than Nate and that takes some doing.
Nobody can deny that D'Antoni knew what he was doing with Jefferies or that we are playing better defense. We look best when we share the ball, move it around and take good shots. Inevitably every game we get away from that style which has brought some measure and success in favor for what we have seen the last decade or so. Stupid basketball.
I'm pretty disgusted and I know it will get worse before it gets better.

Funny how we only talk about what the Knicks do right when they play at their worst.
I'll draw up a petition to ask Mr. Stern to boot our boys out of the league.

The problem was he used a basically 6-man rotation with Curry and Douglas getting 3 minutes each, as the 7th and 8th men. They ran out of gas at the end. Curry destroyed the rhythm and momentum in his 3 minutes, as they tried to hard to get him involved and drifted from the game plan. D'Antoni is becoming like LB, in not trusting the rookies or new guys. With back to back games, he's got to think a little more long-term and not play 6 guys around 40 minutes each or more. I can see not playing Curry, but Hill and Landry? And it was the perfect game, half-way through the 3rd quarter to reintroduce Nate to the game of basketball. Half-way through the 3rd quarter they were showing signs of running out of energy, and by the 4th quarter they were done. Nate, Hill and Landry might have helped, even Darko, the embargoed one. I hope tonight he plans on at least a 9-man rotation or we will lose this one too. I agree, a poorly coached game, but for different reasons.

LB? What about all the coaches before and after him?

crazy as this sounds Larry Hughes has been a difference maker, with him on the bench no-one stepped in or was given the chance to step in (pretty short bench D Ant) to pick up the slack. Bad one Mike.

We will see in a few years whether donnie should taken the glamour choice in D'antoni who i like as person but am 50% as a coach right at this particular second or the hungry newcomer who is quite smart and only wanted to coacch here in Mark Jackson.
At the end of the day D'antoni tried to reinvent the wheel with Duhon like he is Nash and Duhon is barely Milos Vujanic some nights let alone Steve Nash. But Mark being a point guard and having a good basketball mind if you listen to some of his broadcasts on TNT, would have Donnie draft and deal us point guards this summer either in the draft or in free agency.
And with Kenny Smith wwho is also smart as a possible GM/assistant GM candidate would have also been real cool too with his fresh ideas and business savvy to eventually take over for Donnie in a role that would have two point guards running the team in the office and over the basketball talent.
I dont dislike D'antoni as but his methods are unexplainable and he almost reminds me of how Riley looked washed out and stressed before he bolted so we'll see.
