I think Toney Douglas can handle point guard duties. His skill set is not ideal, but between him and Gallinari as guards, I think a lot can be done. Not sure Gallinari can safely bring the ball upcourt, but Douglas can, I have seen that, then put it in the hands of Gallinari or Chandler and run the plays. I guess I left Duhon out of my rotation completely, and that is probably a mistake, so bring Duhon and Nate and Harrington off the bench, along with Hill, that should be a high energy 2nd unit. I want to see some changes here, as suggested by others such as Hill at center(or Darko). They will both get some blocks, and while Hill is only 6'10", he seems to have some good leaping ability, so lets get him out there so he can fine tune his timing some. Gallinari on the floor with some players is like oil and water, they just don't mix. Hughes and Harrington come to mind there. Gallinari should at least be the 2nd option, after the pick and roll, if not the first option. Not sure Gallinari and Nate works either, I don't recall Nate ever setting Gallinari up. Could be wrong on that, but I can't recall it. Gallinari does look awkward at times, but I think that is the newness of his body, and he will get beyond that with playing time and experience. As the team is currently constituted, Gallinari should be one of the main focuses of the offense, yet it doesn't seem to happen. He does tend to stand around and watch a little too much. Is that the result of inexperience, coaching or his teammates? I am not sure, but I think it is a combination of all three. I would like to see plays such as Douglas and Lee, pick and roll, if that doesn't work in to Darko, if the defense collapses, out to Gallinari for a three or Chandler for a two. Darko's passing skills are decent, and he can put it in the basket with either hand. With that lineup SSOL is out the window, but a half-court offense would work. Then when the bench comes in, try to implement the SSOL against the opponents bench. I think Douglas can play the PG position, its a bit of a stretch, but we need to find out. I would have designed this team differently from Walsh. I would have drafted Budinger, and signed either J Williams of C Arroyo. So my problem would be the center position, more than PG. Now this team still needs PG's an SG and a center for 2010. Even if LeBron signs, and he can play 2-3-4, we will still need 2 PG's and a center and probably a 2, to make this team competitive. I don't see any elite PG's available until 2011, so we will be stuck with second tier point guards, unless Rubio suddenly materializes in a Knicks uniform. I am not completely sold on Joe Johnson as our SG, so I would look to lesser but decent players to sign, such a Azubuike, if his knee operation is 100% effective, which would leave room for the signing of a PG of some sort. If we sign LeBron, and I am beginning to have doubts about that now, I think rather than try and sign a 2nd close to max contract, sign some building blocks instead, and then go for CP in 2011, and we also have a draft pick that year. Joe Alexander will also be available in 2010, at least take a look at him. In the meantime, find out if Hill is a PF or a center and how effective he can be, and find out of Douglas has enough to run the show.

I've been enjoying the nuances of Jared Jeffries game. All of his nuances. I've been here, lurking, and watching this excuse for a team just fold it in as usual after playing a "high intensity" game the eve before.
Damn, Kelly Tripuka. All he does is make excuses for the horrible play of this team and then Breeny does the same on the air with Clyde, who must love the fact that he doesn't have to play three in a row, like they used to...
These Knicks are even worse then last years Knicks, and I cannot even believe I am saying this.
Thank goodness, the Rims haven't won a game since last April...

Although Harrington scored 41 points, which of course is good, he only hit 9 of 13 free throws. Down the stretch he consistently hit one out of two. I would think a supposedly good shooter like Harrington could shoot 75% from the free throw line. If he had done that he would have been 12 for 15 and we win the game. Even 11 for 15 puts us in overtime. I agree that it is time for the new guys to play. Where is Douglas and Hill, and even Darko and Landry. I'd like to see Darko and Hill out there, at the very least the defense would be better. Yes it would be nice to get rid of Curry and Jeffries, but it is time to show the rest of the NBA what the players who will still be here in 2010 can do, good or bad, it's time to find out. I especially don't get playing Jeffries over Hill. Get Eddy back on the court yes, if he can, to try and make the Houston deal. I still say T-Mac and Budinger for Eddy, Mobley and Nate. Gotta give something to get something, Donnie. I might even consider Chandler instead of Nate, if they insisted. Both T-Mac and Budinger can play 2 or 3, both have size Budinger is a deadly shooter if open. Something we could sorely use. T-Mac if he can play gives us a go-to scorer down the stretch, another thing we don't have. Houston gets the big man they desperately need, plus some monetary relief, and a side-show. I doubt houston would trade budinger. everything I've seen indicates that houston loves him.

I have an excuse. ; ) At this juncture what more could be said? As others astutely pointed out Hill and Douglas are firmly seated on the bench. Eddy Curry is hurt. Again. Gallinari has been AOL for the last few games though he showed up last night. Mike D'Antoni's mystifying decision process has Darko Milicic on the bench and Jared Jefferies on the court when we face Dwight Howard. Is this some secret plan to endear himself to Howard by serving him up sacrificial lambs? Is it possible to run plays for the one guy who shoots treys reasonably well? The play of the Knicks has been abysmal. I don't see anything aside from the continued good play of David Lee to get excited about right now. I do know we better sign Lee longterm as he is the only player who seems to give a damn consistently. Do you want to know why this board is dead? We see a glimmer of hope AKA Eddy Curry playing with fire and enthusiasm and then he gets hurt. That is the perfect metaphor for this season so far. ; ) Bill i have to disagree. It seems that jeffries, harrington, duhon(I hate that guy) & hughes all give a damn consistently. they just reek.

Where is everyone? Too bummed out to communicate. Too confused to even comment. I think most of us don't get D'Antoni anymore. If we are going to lose the way we have been, at least play the young guys who will be here next year. I agree with Bill, Jeffries and not Darko vs Howard? That makes no sense. Darko should start, even if he only plays 12-15 minutes. Free Darko! Gotta be better than Jeffries. I think because he is more comfortable playing with his back to the basket, the coach thinks he is not right for the system. Play him anyway! Who cares about his offense, we need his defensive presence in the paint. He's tried everything else, why not try that! As for point guard; Donnie blew it with either Jason Williams or Carlos Arroyo. They would be the starter(s) by now. I can understand not drafting Jennings, there wasn't a lot of evidence that he was that good, but signing a point guard, even a second tier one on the cheap for one year, when there was only one point guard on the team is barely forgiveable. It's time to play the young guys, and put Hughes and Jeffries on the bench. Start Darko, Lee, Chandler, Gallinari and Douglas. Bring Nate, Harrington and Hill off the bench. There's and 8-man rotation I can watch and hope they learn and get better. For a 9th man, I'd like to see Landry............I bet he gives more effort and energy than anyone else. As for the expiring contracts/players, I still would like to see Lee come back, and he's the only one. He plays smart, and he never gives up. He runs the court pretty well for a big man, and he knows how to finish. Despite his defensive shortcomings, which I don't think are as bad as everyone else seems to think, playing center(again), out of position for him, he is worth retaining, even if he winds up as a 6th man. As far as trading players for picks, only for a very high pick, we don't need another #8 or so pick. What we need is a top 5 pick. Wall probably goes #1 and Monroe will be in the mix, and then Aldrich and Jordan. Aldrich and Jordan are going to go pretty high up. Either one would help solve the center problem. Monroe probably will not go that high and jordan may not either. A big question is do you try to win or not. If you are trying to win then you have to pretty much play the same guys. However if you are playing 4 the future then why play darko; he won't be here next year.
