Im spending a lot of time following College Football and Basketball so I have not had much chance to post here lately. However to catch up heres my ramblings....
I was for the knicks taking Iverson...sure he is past his prime and a ball hog but the man can always score and there isnt anyone on the Knicks that can say that, including Al Harrington.
How could Walsh/D'Antoni not see that their need for a PG was not met, and is the crux to me of their 2-9 start.
Count me as NOT one of Galinaris fans. He does not play with passion. I think he is taking time away from others on the Knicks who do, including Hill who plays well in spurts and then sits for eons. Hows this for a box score: 38 minutes 61% FG, 100% FT, 25 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks. Thats Hills stats for THE season.
On the Lakers out here everyone sees them as an all-star team but they are truly struggling without Pau Gasol, perhaps the most underrated player in the NBA. And the Clippers curse with high picks hits once again with Blake Griffen being injured, and not due for another 3 weeks.
I follow the Knicks on NBA PASS but I have to say its returning even less on the dollar spent than our soon to be highly inflated Dollar.

Gasol is incredible and I've never understood how it isn't obvious to everyone.

Pau just goes about his game and does everything that people expected Lamar Odom to do.
Speaking of Lamar, its early but Gallinari reaminds me of Odom. He has all the tools and the potential. he plays like gangbusters at times, and he dissappears at others. Neither has that sustained passion yet and with Lamar its kind of late in his career. Lets hope Gallo catches fire and keeps it.

I think Gallo has played all of 41 games and most of the time he does play with passion. His issue is he is not assertive and he should be but he has showed some real skills. I think he may still have some back issues. I hope I am wrong but the one game where he didn't do anything he seemed stiff and slow.
I think the NBA should explore how the Lakers got Gasol for essentially nothing. Somehow the cynical part of me, the part that equates McHale/Garnett/Celtics also sees Lakers/West/Grizzlies/Gasol/Lakers. Maybe it's just me. ; )

Im concened that at 6-10 or 6-11 D'Antoni has him playing like Odom at the periphery but the Knicks only have a few 3 point shooters and scarily D'Anoni might be protecting him from the grind underneath sending in Wilson Chandlet instead. Your cynicism re. the Gasol trade is well earned. Here in SoCal no one even knew of the trade until the day before it came down. It saved the LA GM job and handed th western conference title over to the Lakers. The Lakers were going to get rid of Kwame Brown and Memphis took him in a garage sale. Watch out for the Denver Nuggets from the west, they manhandled the Lakers who were w/o Gasol. Gary
