And Rene the last thing you stated as long as we receive an expiring back i am in full favor of. I never liked Duhon for the present or the future from day 1.
About Iverson, I don't have much of an opinion because he would be here only one year and it isn't like the people he's replace in Duhon or Nate or Hughes are going to be here either. So to get all up in arms about 72 when the season really wasn't going to be a success anyway is a moot point
Its moot because the people who really matter in Gallo and Chandler and Hill are signed past this year and play positions that AI doesn't. The upside is that he will spread the defense. The downside is that he will not spread the ball but since Harrington and Hughes doesn't either are we surprised that AI might not?
This whole season is a wash because we have no pick so any other year where more was at stake I would be against it but i really don't care either way if he joins the 09-10 knicks. Now if he wants to join Lebron's Knicks or D-wade Knicks or Bosh's Knicks thats where i have a problem.
But AI isn't the answer to all things. We need better coaching and Walsh needs to hit a home run this summer. We also need a better owner,no salary cap, a pick or two next year and to play defense for once, but that besides the point. Those points, pun intended are the answer(second pun intended too)!

a. To trade Duhon he has to show he's not baked and can play. b. afrer a 2 -10 start maybe there should be some desperation.
I would sign AI to an incentive based contract. Give him a million to play 60 games, shut up and stay out of trouble. What he could help us with is WINS. Success breeds success, the best way to develop young players not by letting them rot aimlessly asking them to be what they are not and do what they cannot. What we need is BETTER Players.
You may say desperation, I say experimentation.

I will play devil's advocate and say why not, come on down. Duhon looks horrible, and I mean absolutley no shot. We have no go to guy right now when the game is on the line. Harrington is that guy and he's good 1 every 4. We need an Iverson for this season, to make sure we win more than 15 games. How will he be any more toxic or chuck more than the morons now? I watched last nights game closely, Nate, harrington, hughes and even chandler do not even look for Gallo. They are freezing him out and it's hurting the team. Gallo should be the 1st option. Ecity looked better after not playing for a year than he did when he was playing.

I have grown to like AI over the years (up to a point ; ) and he would not really steal time from the youngsters because Toney Douglas is playing a lot of SG and as pointed out by somebody else the rest are gone after the end of the year. Iverson is a tough guy, the very definition of a volume scorer but he can be very efficient and he can do other things.
I worry that he takes shots away from the other guys. As it is we almost seem to freeze out Gallinari (partly his fault because he makes himself easy to guard by not moving around on every play ) and adding AI won't help that situation. We would likely win a few more games, put a few more fans in the seats, blah, blah but as long as we remember, ONCE AGAIN, the Knicks have another superstar past his prime we won't be disappointed that the AI of 2009 is nothing like the AI of 2005.

I have advocated for the last 2 years that Marbury should have been traded for AI, both were disruptive dead meat on their teams, both had the same salaries. Why not try the other teams a-hole. One team's headache can be another's god-send (spreeewellll)
anyways why not see if it works..will make things more interesting.

So it appears for the most part we all more or less say we'd support it only if it helps and not past this year. He is only going to sign for the vets minimum of 1.2 million. Easily cut if he becomes a problem.
Secretly it always seemed cool to have the answer in a Knick jersey but that was back when he was crossing Jordan in his youth. That Iverson is the one I wish we had a chance to have on a 99 Knicks squad that didn't have enough against the Spurs to seal the deal. This version might be a little less polished but as long as he isn't a TOTAL ball hog his energy can be fed off of then its a win-win. I'm just slightly reminded of how bad Denver and Detroit were recently with him on those teams, so that will be in my mind a bit.
But anyway, welcome AI and please be on your best behavior and teach Nate and Chandler how to play with fierce aggressiveness.
