www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/62727/20091112/byron_scott_fired/This man helped The Nets get to the finals twice in a row, and helped the Hornet overachieve the last 4 years from nothing and I cant believe the GM, Jeff Bower, who traded away his assets and never acquired the rights ones, fired Scott 9 games into the season. All this Lawrence Frank still has a job and the Nets weren't relevant since Scott was there. Most likely Phil Jackson will scoop him up but I wish he would added as an assistant because I think he is very good coach. Shame it had to happen like this. I really don't see why Paul and David West would stay now once their contracts are up in 2012 and 2010 respectively. Hey Ken or Rene anyway you can photo shop a jersey on either of these gents to resemble something to come in the next few years for our Knicks? -Jason

these types of firing usually are about something else, not a poor start. I have worked for many companies where when management wants someone out, they looked for any "performance related" excuse to fire someone for other reasons than performance.
I doubt this was about 3-6.

I believe you are right because he is a good coach and his GM doesnt spend on anything of value and once he(George Shinn) loses West and/or more importantly Paul they will probably move to Seattle.

Great coach last year and lousy coach this year?
Sometimes it is the players. ; )

CP4's uniform is being stretched as we speak. Nate's real reason for switching numerals was to honor the impending arrival of the best PG on the planet...Although not a fan of BS, (LOL), it is indisputable that he put the Rims on the map in a very short period of time.

Steve Blake did the joke that they probably expect CP3 to coach the team now. He's trying to do everything else down there. Rumor is that paul was highly pissed at Scott's dismissal and he wasn't even asked his opinion of Scott. Chris is definitely out of there when his time is up and his parole comes through.

Does anyone think the Tyson Chandler for Emeka Okafor trade has anything to do with this? I think it affected both the coach and CP.

Not sure Iron if that trade made had an affect on Scott's firing, however, I always viewed him as a very solid coach and there should be more that needs to come out about this. I wonder if CP made some complaints to management, as it is clearly his team.

The thing is who told Jeff Bower(GM) to trade for Okafor who is an undersized center smaller than David Lee, in the first place? You are dealt the hand you are given and since they think the GM and Tim floyd of all people are better to lead the Hornets, then good riddance to any relevance that team ever had. Look for a miracle to have happen before Paul ever thinks about resigning in New Orleans.

What I have read is that CP supported Scott, but the other guard West I believe did not.

If you are talking about David(West) he is a power forward for them, but Scott is a no nonesense defensive coach. It could have been that since they were our only win and how bad we are could have made the Hornets notice someone had to pay.
New Orleans is a great city and all, but when you replace Scott with Bower and Tim Floyd you arent going to attract Lebron, Carmelo or Wade to come to play for an ownership that is as cheap as they come.
This is the same organzation has had the same lackluster Peja who hasnt been good since his Sac King/ Chris Webber days, as an integral part of the offense and his back is worse than Danilo's was last year.
I figure we should quietly watch what happens with Chris and the hornets because their blunder this season could be our gain in 2011.

First we need to get Lebron and Wade then we add CP III and then we sprinkle Camby in there wala championship.Let's move Curry and Jeffries soon please so we could give Hill some serious burn.

Wade is never coming to New York. We will never bring Camby back.
Now Lebron + CP3...now we're talking gentlemen. Do we have enough to grab Lebron just with our current cast? I think James and Paul are gonna have to draw this one up themselves...or CP3's gonna have to request a trade before 2011 to get Lebron here.
