Toney Douglas has some game and I say that without feeling any Eddie Lee Wilkens-like bad karma. He's young and he's a guard so the last two games scoring wise are likely an anomaly, for now at least, but the rest of his game is precocious to say the least. He stays calm and in control and he shows awareness at both ends of the court. I like the fact he is confident enough to shoot more now and he shows a lot of maturity in his shot selection even knowing when to fake and move to get a better shot. Most rookies commit to a shot and they don't change. TD isn't known as a great shooter but he is average or better and he can improve. I like his ballhandling and defense and the fact he is getting minutes because right now Duhon is doing a poor job.

Bill...
I thin it's safe to say that "TD" is the "Top Dawg" in terms of Knick PGs. This was a nice pick for NY, as Toney seems almost like a seasoned player. I said it before that Douglas may end up supplanting Chris Duhon by mid-season and I now believe we can move that timeline up to December.
Douglas is exactly the type of point we need when our new arrivals arrive.

If the Knicks lose a majority of the next 15 games, we should give the young guys a majority of the minutes. Let Douglas and Gallo start in the back court and have Chandler, Hill, and Laundry start upfront. Let these guys develop and have them ready for next season. I might even try to sign some guys from the D league and try to find a diamond in the rough.
Concering our expiring contracts, lets hope some playoff team offers us expiring contracts and some young cheap potential before the trade deadline.

TD transferred to FSU and spent 5 years in college getting all that practice time. Plus, even though he was not the point at FSU, he was the player who had the ball in his hands all the time and was the go to scorer for FSU last year. TD can play. The only real question is whether or not he will develop enough as a playmaker for others to be a true NBA point.

I think he will--for another team. Given our history with young players, he won't have enough time to show us what he can do, and we'll ship him out after his sophomore season.
On second thought, he'll probably go into a sophomore slump and never recover as long as he's a Knick.

Sarcasm is my turf, Bill. ; D
I'm always optimistic, but I can't pretend we didn't quit on all those other young players who might have brought us a title or two by now.

Watching these last few games of Douglas, its clear that Duhon looks like a scrub compared to the rookie. He is a good candidate(Douglas) to help bring in the new class next summer definitely. As a knick fan you never usally get to be right but there is just something i always knew i never liked about acquiring Duhon and I'm glad he turning into what he truly always was, which is not our PG of the future. Go Douglas go and do not resign Duhon please. TRY to see who's on the market in the draft by buying a pick first or free agency before you give this ass clown another chance.
I like Mercury's idea of looking for that next undiscovered in the D-league who could be cheap and effective kind of like Anthony Morrow was for Golden State when he debuted last year. Speaking of the Warriors they need to dissolve Golden state and divy up there players because that team will never be elite again. They have so many of the young players that i would like to have in Curry or Morrow or Anthony Randolph or even Biedrins(not his contract but his ability) and are used the like clowns by Donnie Nelson its a shame.
Anyway, since i knew nothing about Douglas when Donnie traded for his pick i am happy he is here and has CONFIDENCE. Hopefully tthat will be contagious to Chandler and Gallo to because they at times looks like theey need a boost of it.
