I read this story yesterday and thought it strange it hadn't been brought up here. I thought Eddy Curry was out because of the muscle he tore that most of us don't have. Then I read in the Daily News that Curry has been banned from games and practices till he reaches a certain weight. This story grows more and more bizarre with each passing day. Eddy supposedly lost 40 lbs in the off season and still is not in good enough shape to even practice? We have worn the tread off the real story of how a guy in desperate financial straits, with his career bottoming out on the court and his life in disarray off the court can't get in shape in the 5 months since the end of the season. I don't applaud the Knicks here either. Now they are taking a stand but they should have took the stand last May. They should have laid down the law and a system where they monitored Curry's progress. Instead they left up to Eddy and "his" people. The results were predictable. The prognosis is terminal. It is very unfortunate how difficult the current CBA has made it sue for breech of contract but if ever there was a case this is it. www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/2009/10/21/2009-10-21_new_york_knicks_to_center_eddy_curry_shape_up.html

i have maintained all along that his personal trainer was completely full of shyte regarding curry not being able to get below 310 pounds.
looking at his photos from when he was at his alleged 330 pounds he still had close to 30% body fat on him. 17% body fat would have been barely acceptable for his body type in the nba but doing the math that would put curry at-- you guessed it-- 285 pounds.
the sad thing is that he is in his physical prime years and yet he has the body of a man twice his age. the other sad thing is that i have heard it mentioned that te source of his heart problems were actually drug related-- he had to take weight reducing pills, speed i guess, and that caused heart trouble even as it helped him get down to 285 pounds.
again, sad. but as shakespeare says he has my pity not my pardon.

Irish I agree with you however what i give in the Knicks favor is what all employers to an extent get a pass for. First of all, in the off season, where you don't any team duties, make millions more than anyone else, aren't expected to be babysat and micro managed, why is it the Knicks fault if Curry stated to his GM that he would take care of his conditioning, and then Walsh would take him on his word as a man and as a boss who puts his trust in him to do what he says? Whatever industry you work in where you get paid a higher wage than others you are either the boss or in charge of alot of responsibility and more times than not you aren't micromanaged. So why does a multimillionaire have to be haggled to do what the job description entails? Use your millions and hire a personal trainer and get you in shape. The man trains at Tim Grover's training academy and has since he came into the league, where Jordan used to, and Wade, McGrady, Q and Carlos Boozer does and..........wait a minute.........these guys are always hurt with the exception of Wade, so bad example, lol. The point is why is it FULLY necessary to be on Curry's ass if Curry doesn't have the desire to be a responsible paid athlete. Nothing has worked so far under Walsh, Zeke and Paxson respectively so it is what it is. But that man will be lucky to get 2 million dollars annually from even the worst team next summer and it will be his own undoing. I try to put zeke's reign past my mind but when i think of the absolute abomination of the result from Curry's acquisition, the irritation of that decision haunts my dreams, and rage on the subject soon follows. Damn..........when somebodies' with hindsight, lock the door behind us so i can go Guantanamo on him -Jason
