Fred Jones and Dan Dickau came from Portland along with Zbo for Stevie Franchise and Channing Frye, I beleive. If my fading memory isn't failing me. Jones played for the Pacers and Donnie was familiar with him, so he kept him for the season, while letting Dickau go.

Isiah was still in power (ouch) for the Fred Jones/ZBo experiment. Donnie didn't bring him back, Fred signed as a free agent w the Clips last year. Might be looking for work again?

Ah, now I recall Fred Jones, but only from his Pacer days! About Miami's cap-room. I do fear that CB4 may join D-Wade, and here is yet another team that could significantly improve themselves. The one thing NY still has over the Heat is that 70% of Miami's fanbase are Knicks fans, or at least they were.
Neil...The Heat can sign TWO MAX PLAYERS, in addition to D-Wade? This is frightening, to say the least, especially when we have Bloat and The Ewe still sapping the cap-space. Donnie needs to simply buy-out the Whale and there is interest in Jeffries, although the Knicks cannot expect anything more than an expiring contract, which will allow another $7,000,000 to be tacked on to the summer spending spree.
For some reason, I feel that Samuel Dalembert would be a terrific addition to the Knicks, especially since he is more than unhappy playing in Philly. Jeffries and the Mobley contract for Uncle Sam. Does it work? Will it work? Philly should be punished for not re-upping Weatherspoon, back when Scott Layden was destroying the franchise. Speaking of a Layden waste of money, where is Michael Doleac these days?

Oh yeah and I read from Berman's blog that Donnie wont use Mobley's contract in a trade. He will simply let the contract expire while saving on the luxury tax and having insurance pay 60-80% of the salary. There is a hearing in November to make his retirement "official" the blog says. I thought he was officially retired last year. Anyway, how do we package Curry or Jeffries now?

I don't know about Michael Doleac, but Raef LaFrentz is looking to come back. Probably a cheap, real center if he still has game. I'd take a look. If they are not gonna package Mobley's contract then they have to use Nate or Chandler to get rid of Curry or Jeffries or both. Even DLee, but I hope not. Nate would probably have to be a sign and trade now, so his new team doesn't lose him to free agency.

Wait a minute Neil..... Halway through the posting from chris sheridan, although i did red the whole thing, he says they have between 20-25 mil in cap room next summer. so how is it that they thee ability to ask three top free agents to take THAT much less to sign in Miami.
There is a possibility that Wade goes nowhere because i think Wade also made a minority stake recently in the miami Dolphins, I believe, so i guess he might be sold on staying in Miami and they will add Boozer or Amare or even Bosh(not with Jermaine O'neal there).
But they have just as much chance to sign and extra guy plus there own as us two guys. I'm not worried. New york has the clout to make this team summer of 2010 work for us no matter who we get.
