Wow if he keeps that up the man will be traded faster than Crawford and Z-bo were last year. He just made two in preseason and that's never been apart of his arsenal in the NBA.
Just preseason but I just didnt expect that, lol.

I am asking since I was wondering whether this is a rumor or are the scrimmages on television in NY? Jared's heady play began in the last month of the season, and, despite being the only NBA player in history besides Brian Cardinal to have remained in the NBA so long, as a player without any natural talent whatsoever, is truly a tribute to...well, let's put it this way, Zeke was one heck of a PG, but Jeffries would be unemployed had Donnie Walsh been our GM at the time of Thomas' penchant for horrible free agent signings and trades. Talk about your "zero sum" players. Jeffries' biggest attribute is that he wears Allan Houston's old uniform and proved that just because you wear #20 doesn't mean you are a complete defensive sieve.

Awesome! Just found the game on MSG, and Jeffries has three 3 pointers made, already! This guy is having a break-out game. Hopefully, the Sacramento Kings front office is making the requisite phone call, as we speak. Tina Cervasio just finished interviewing Jared, who expounded upon his deadly perimeter game...

Taking into account this is the first coach to instill and pound home the concept of confidence I see us making him gone barring "injury" sometime around December. I call it. Before december if he stays healthy and what i saw that today wasnt an abberition bye bye to Jared but what position do we trade for that wont mess up the geling the players seemed to have lost when Z-bo and Crawford were traded last season?
I implore someone who has alot of time on their hands to research players we could trade for that have favorable expiring on below his salary contracts on perhaps a team that has cap room STILL that Jeffries could be flipped for?
Besides the obvious Kenny Thomas who contributes nothing to a team.

And yes Ken I saw it live.

I'm in the minority and I deserve total ostracism from the rest of the grown ups on this forum but IMHO Jared Jefferies is a very talented guy.
There. I said it. In public. ; )
Honestly speaking Jared is indeed a talented guy. He does have skills. He lacks consistency and at times I swear he plays scared but every once in awhile he shows a good game. He won't get more consistent than he is now because he is at a point in his career where he is what he is which is why he is such a frustrating player. I like him. I like his effort and when he plays well I like what he brings to the team but there are far too many times when he brings nothing to the table to forget the positive things he does.
So yes, I think Jared Jefferies is talented but like everyone here I am counting the minutes till we can trade him. After all if I can reconcile myself to losing David Lee who does a lot of consistent good and sometimes great things than losing Jared is not much of a problem.

LOL I couldnt believe my eyes..I only saw bits and pieces of the first half but I actually saw JJ hit 3 in a row...and literally in a row...like 3 possessions in a row it seemed. Any other good signs? I saw David Lee came out shooting aggressively. Toney Douglas played some really really tough defense out from what I saw...I saw Gallinari have a sweet dish to Lee underneath and Wilson Chandler hit the mid range consistently. Can you guys tell me anything else, good, bad, ugly?

I heared Al talking about how Jeffries a one time was a good shot when he was younger and I could not believe it but it's a good supprise to say the least,he might have value as an actual player after all.We need to make some moves quick to get Eddie playing time and then Hill.Moving Jeffries can be easier if he actually has value.

ROFL. actually Bill i agree he has talent. I do think the things he does well show up more on a winning team. If you have Nate and jamal running iso's on offense ( limiting ball movement) and not playing fundamental defense then jeffries is worthless and his strengths are inconsequential. But if intelligence is the norm then jared's ability to play correctly is an asset.

Gates:
Good point and especially true of Jeffries. He has the defensive skills to help this team.

We'll see if this was an aberrition or the real thing over time but i winced when i saw how far out he was but when he hit it i thought well....... Curry hit one before but big deal and two possessions later he hit them again and it prompted me to write this post.
It makes me mad that Jared wasnt motivated like this before from Zeke. He either could have been traded or at least been a better player for the win/loss column like 2 seasons ago. He said Mike D gave him confidence to refine "what he is good at already and determination to get be better in places his game hasnt in awhile", I read on realgm.com as being quoted over the weekend.
I forget this man used to be the best player in Indiana at one point as hard as that is to be believed. Google his high school career and his rating ass Mr. Indiana online.
Anyway, it dont make any more wanted on this team than it was before but I pray the big guys stays "healthy" and good luck on someone else's roster God willing by Christmas, if he continues to play like he did last night.

Jason
There are times when JJ looks so smooth and accomplished I think he is going to turn the corner and be a star and then the very next play he does something that makes me think he never played the game before. It's frustrating that a guy can hit a jumper looking like Allan Houston and then his next shot he looks like Woody Allen.

I should "smite" you for this post, but you have had my back for over 10 years on AOL, and for that, I shall not impose a life-time ostracism, which would be completely unfair. That said, when you wrote this, was it after drinking a pint with your old buddy and former Knick, Tom Riker, or before meeting up with this Knick luminary? I hereby dub thee Geoff Petrie, in honor of the imminent trade of Jared for the even more useless, but expiring Kenny Thomas plus a 2010 (conditional) first round pick.

Tina Cervasio has more skill than Jared Jeffries and looks extremely ready for this season. As Bill has oft-times said, "even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile." I think we can safely say that Jeffries is no Allan Houston. However, he is skinnier than Eddy Curry, and that may be his best attribute.
I think Jeffries is the only Knick who doesn't have a tattoo, either. I used to think it was David Lee, but his tat shows up on his back when he extends for a resounding rebound...
