I assume you are referring to "getting" Monta' Ellis. His contract is worse than Stephen Jackson's. He gets 11mil for the next 5 years through 2013/14(player option). Still want him? Or was that a knee-jerk reaction without checking out any actual facts? There is only one, repeat, one player worth acquiring from the Warriors and that player is Kellenna Azubuike, who makes about 3.5mil this year and next.

Looking past the considerable financial issues, which as Iron points out are significant, Ellis is a head case. Talented to be sure but a head case. He lies to the Warriors about an off season injury and then gets pissed when they fine him. Now he can't play with a guy he has actually never played with?
I like Azubuike too and not just because he is more reasonably paid. He's a very talented, team oriented player. Ellis is talented but that's where the comparisons end.

Jeez, you guys. I was being sarcastic.
Let's not forget Ellis missing the first 30 games of last season because of a DUI--I think.

I almost bit, too, but I never recall Jeff posting that "We Gotta Get This Guy" type of writing in over 10 years...BTW, who is Monta Ellis to even question the greatness of Donnie Nelson? (That's sarcasm, btw).

I'd go along with adding Azibuke and include anthony Morrow who is a young and cheap SG who would be nice to backup Chandler. Talent is heavily wasted with the Warriors. They would not make a trade with us again without getting/asking for Chandler of Hill or Gallo next time and for Azibuke or Biedrins or Morrow or whatever those seem like lateral moves.
I would love to take Anthony Randolph for Jordan Hill maybe. Randolph is a beast in the making, IMO. He and Washington's Javale Mcgee are among the future in big men to watch out for.

Everybody deserves a pass for putting up with nellie's bullsh*t. he's gotten worse as he's aged and there is a ton of political crap going on out there. In addition he's correct. Steph is listed at 6'3" 185 ( yeah right) and Monta is 6'3" 180. Who's checking Joe johnson. That pair can match up with Nate Robinson and Abdul Rauf. Quicky going through guards they could match up with Idd and jason terry and berea ( if Josh Howard isn't playing 2 guard ) and harris and lee from the rims. Curry and ellis aren't just short; they both are incredibly frail.

Nellie would be a HOF Coach in 6'4 and under league but he just hates guys over 6'5. ; ) I was shaking my head at picking Curry too but nothing is too ridiculous when it comes to Nellie. ; )

I hope we embarass the Warriors when we play them. Hill should be playing with a chip on his shoulder because he was slated as high as 4 in some draft boards. Would use that as motivation to show he belonged at that spot whenever we play the teams he was passed over. But since his camp looks to be slowly plodding along maybe not.
Still want to embarass the Warriors all two times we play them. Nellie and his free reign to ruin a franchise is why this league needs to improve the integrity each year. It isnt because of suits or gambling refs or brawls in the palace. Those things are the sum of equal parts of the bigger problem. The NBA is losing money and big market teams have to pay to keep a team like Golden State afloat when the management/coach have 7 or more guards on the team at any given time and lose money and attendance every year trying to be D'antoni light and it isnt working. Nobody wants to come to Golden State willingly to play. That whole squad is a joke yet freakishly talented on paper.

Nellie liked one guy over 6'4. Manute Bol, who was allowed to jack up threes and he was only 7'7. Also, Don did such an honorable service to 6'7 Anthony Mason when coaching the Knicks, by allowing Mason to mindlessly dribble the ball into the corner, get double teamed, and stunt the team's offense by removing Patrick Ewing as a dominant scorer for the 59 games of his NY experience.
Nelson had the weirdest free throw shot I've ever seen in professional basketball. That should have been NBA teams first clue as to this dude's mind-set.

The old rules were such that you had to have the man covering Bol to go out there with him. this opened up the middle for Nellie's real players. UNTIL some other coach decided to cover bol with his point guard. Bol had no post game to counter this and the other team's point guard just released on every Bol 3 pointer. Bol couldn't get back quickly enough and Nellie's goofiness was rebuked.
