According to Alan Hahn of New York Newsday and Mark Berman of The New York Post, Nate Robinson will be signing a one year deal for more than the qualifying offer of $2.9 million dollars, and the contract will include incentive-laden bonuses.
Due to Robinson signing a one year deal, his salary will have some impact on next seasons cap unless Nate signs with another team or the Knicks renounce his rights at the end of the season. Ironically, it was reported that Nate was more than agreeable to signing the qualifying offer months ago, which would have meant no "cap-hold" issues for NY.
Insofar as David Lee is concerned, Berman reports that agent Mark Bartlestein has reportedly insinuated that Dave may end up being a hold-out when camp begins in 4 days. According to Berman's "source", Lee was offered a $5,000,000 one year deal by Donnie Walsh. Of course, since we all know that the Knicks long-standing policy of not discussing contracts with the media remains in place, which casts a shadow on the amount of money David was offered or for how long.
Hahn, on the other hand, remains quite optimistic that Lee will be inked prior to the beginning of preseason camp and that David will be working out with the team per schedule. Alan mentioned that Lee should be signed within the next few days.
In other Knick news, Berman stated that Darko Milicic reported to the Knicks after "missing all of the voluntary pre-season workouts". Berman is such a downer, and the implication was an obvious slap towards Milicic who has yet to play a millisecond in a Knicks game...
