I do not believe we won't sign Lee once we trade JJ and Curry and free up money to sign him for 7 per.with raises every year. He's worth 7 per the question is would he sign that contract with incremental raises but 7 per counting towards 2010.

I think Lee takes 7 mil with max raises for max years simply because he loves playing in New York and there are lots of opportunities to make money on the side in New York especially for a player as popular as Lee. I think the perception of Lee around the league is he is a product of the system. To me that's great. ; ) I know he was a double figure scorer and rebounder before D'Antoni ever hit town but it's great we Knick fans are the only ones who recognize that fact.
The key is freeing ourselves from Curry and Jefferies' contracts. That is much easier said than done.

I think Donnie Walsh is dead set against giving David Lee this type of money or has other plans for Dave. Honestly, we all seem to accept that a $7.5 million deal would be fine for The General, but why hasn't this been done yet? Even a one year deal at $9,000,000 would be fine with me. Lee has worked his butt off for NY and has posted terrific numbers, yet he is not in camp.
This raises major questions for me, as I think Lee may not be a Knick much longer, due to a possible sign and trade. This may not involve Carlos Boozer or even another PF. I just believe that if Walsh threw out this salary onto the table, Dave would have accepted it. And I blame Mark Bartlestein for this entire fiasco, since David just doesn't appear to be a greedy guy. I just think he hired a jackass for an agent.
I have no problems with David Lee remaining a Knick for life. As long as it has no impact on LeBron's contract or Chris Paul's entry into NY in 2011-12.
Something just isn't right with the mystery behind David's Knick contract or Nate Robinson's, for that matter...
