John Wall, a high school senior, may apply for this NBA draft. Wall is actually a 5th year senior and will turn 19 this year. If he does apply and the NBA rules him eligible he'd be a top 5 pick and would could someone else down toward us. It does seem very unlikely that Wall will apply but it is something we should continue to monitor

The chances are decent Wall will try for the NBA. He is considered the top HS player in the nation, physically he is very mature and his game decently refined. If he comes out I think he is a surefire All-Star down the road. The good news is somebody pretty good slides down to us as Gates points out. The draft may be weak but it is not without talent. The kicker is you would like players in the top 10 or so to be surer bets than they seem to be this year.
Now add Ricky Rubio to the mix and a little wheeling and dealing could land us our future All-Star PG.

Aren't kids from high school supposed to go to the D-League for a year first?

The rule as I understand it now, is one year of college ball, as Tyreke Evans has done(and several others), or go the Jennings route of one year of international ball. The NBADL is for players who have completed that elegibility.

The wording of the rule is that a player must be 19 and at least one year past his normal HS graduation. Wall spent five years in HS because some of his credits were not recognized when he transferred schools and he had to repeat a year. It is why he was not eligible for the McD HS game. So, he is probably eligible if he wants.
