Rene... I trust Alan Hahn as an accurate sports writer and Knicks fan. He obviously has seen Eddy at 318 pounds, and if he can be showcased in any way this season, Mike has to play him. Losing 40 pounds is no easy feat, unless you are medically ill, and if that photo in the article was taken in the past week, I would be thrilled. One point which I think resonates with me, is the writer's realistic notion that Curry is not the "right" type of player in the D'Antoni system. Eddy has skill, but is he a runner of the court? Of course, we all know the answer to that question. He is neither a shotblocker or a rebounder. His forte is possessing some skills in the paint, and does have that feline-like quickness on the offensive end, which we sadly missed in a "Big" last year.

It would be natural to me to see him in shape enough for us to get some value which is awesome news, but yes he does not fit our system,my best scenario is Mobley and Curry and JJ get shipped in pre season. That way we can play our young guys the whole year.

If Donnie Walsh could work on Houston, I still think a Curry/Mobley for T-Mac deal would completely solve the FA issue for next year, and help the Rockets, too. Walsh is no fool. Curry could come into camp at 280 pounds and there would still be questions about the guy's uninspired, sloth attitude. I know Curry wants out of New York, for he said so in the media, and this is primarily the reason behind his weight loss and conditioning. After all, would you be able to face 20,000 angry people a night after robbing them of your presence for an entire season?
I do not think Curry will be a Knick for long. Despite his contract, the kid knows that he completely let down the team with his overeating and lack of self-control. He didn't even sit on the bench when he was reactivated last season, preferring to stay in the locker-room. MSG Knick fans, IMHO, are forgiving to a degree. I do not think Eddy would ever receive a pardon from any of them, unless he started scoring 34 points a game, pulling down 15 boards a night, and blocking shots like Dikembe Motumbo.
By February's trade deadline, Curry will be off the Knicks. Either by trade or by buyout. NY needs that cap space in the worst way, and even a full buyout will allow NY to add that second free agent and keep David Lee at around $7.3 million a year in 2011. Jared Jeffries will be traded as well and there is interest in this guy, for some strange reason.
We can certainly use an expiring deal or two for our two albatross players...
