According to RealGM, Kahn is off to Spain in order to negotiate with Rubio, not to sign with the Wolves but to be traded to New York. The Knicks have put all negotiations with point guards on "hold" while this visit goes on, also according to RealGM. I can see a sign and trade which will get Rubio enough money for the buyout he needs from DK Joventut. I see a combination of David Lee, Mobley's contract and maybe Jeffries and even Nate going to get this deal done. Wouldn't be surprised if Hughes or Harrington are involved also. As far as I am concerned every Knick is fair game except Gallinari and Chandler. I imagine Hill and Douglas will not be involved also. I think between endorsements(I already have seen Rubio in one TV commercial), and borrowing against the future of his contracts, Rubio can gather enough bucks to extricate himself from his European contract, which reportedly is still negotiable downward. I still would rather keep Lee, but I think he is a "goner" now. Donnie hasn't signed him because he is waiting to find out how much the Wolves are willing to pay him. I have said all along that all of Donnie's moves are a smokescreen to hide the real target, which is Rubio as it has always been. Starting lineup: Rubio, Chandler, Gallinari, Harrington(or Hill) and Darko. Bench will be Duhon, Douglas, Hughes in the backcourt, Eddy and Hill(or Harrington) in the frontcourt. In order to get Douglas and Duhon more minutes, Chandler switches to the 3 when Gallo comes out. Still leaves weaknesses at PF and C, as Harrington, I don't see as a real good PF. He is better at SF. That is why I hate to see Lee go. Rather it be Harrington. Just positional with me.

I sense that a deal with minne would be chandler and Mobley slot for Rubio and and unwanted Twolf.

I might add, that if Hughes were to play well, then my starting lineup(assuming Lee is no longer on the team) would be Rubio, Hughes, Chandler, Gallinari and Darko. That would make a 3 euro starting lineup, which would be unheard of in the NBA I think. Four of them can play defense at least somewhat well(I am excluding Rubio, due to lack of maturity and experience). Now Harrington and Eddy, Hill and Duhon, maybe Douglas off the bench. I hope Morris Almond is on the team to play the "Eddie House" role. Might make the playoffs with that lineup, although they may be shaky in the beginning until they get to know one another. I think Rubio will be a Knick, it is just a matter of when and at what cost.

I will admit to seeing Rubio only in the Olympics but he was a skinny kid with OK 3 point capabilities, poor defense, great court vision and decent passing. I think he will have a hard time with physical PGs that take their men inside.
One advantage he had in the Olympics is the triangle shaped key where the inside is open for passes or penetration, not the keyhole of the NBA. Another is the lack of physical play in Europe.
How many great PGs have come from there Into the NBA and rocked it....few. Tony Parker is the most notable but the guy can shoot and defend, Calderon is good, not great and maybe Udirh.
And with the history of Knicks and Euro players I would think that in itself would shiver any Knick Fan. Would I give up Hill or Chandler and a likely first round draft choice for a guy that may be the next Calderon...I don't think I would. Many see Rubio as the next Pistol Pete Maravich, I see him closer to Jason "White Chocolate" Wllliamns right now. Can he be the future poster boy of NY...maybe. I think only 2-3 years downstream will certify if he is.
I dont intend this as a downer, but just my own opinion.

Gary I agree not many points manage the change but like Parker some have,Rubio is a rare talent IMO,all these rooks are physically challenge by the pros, all are under sized and with coming out early under developed as far as rounding out their games and body developement,Rubio is a puppy under coach DAnt ,that would be a great project IMO worth the risk for the ultimate reward.I though his defense was ok considering who he was going against, most guys would look bad.
