All time lists in sports are the greatest. It gives us the fans a chance to express ourselves beyond the common denominator at times(knicks) and also gives us a sometimes renaissance perspective or newly discovered outlook on a classic moment or person in history.
I want to reminisce on the most clutch basketball player of all time. The man who came through when his team needed him the most. the closer. The dagger maker. The man you loved to hate or the man who you loved when he made that PLAY or SHOT or MOVE.
To me, no one was more clutch all time than.............................. REGGIE MILLER. I hated Reggie as a player, a human, a life form when he played against the knicks or anyone for that matter. John starks head-butting that fool in the playoffs was one of the best top moments in Knicks living(while I was alive) history.
Even now as i write this and type his name mixed with this board's obvious link to his enemies' the knicks, I have to give credit where credit was due.
The NBA's last great universal era was when every great player had to come through the Garden to get to the Eastern Finals at least. Jordan and Pippen did. Alonzo and Riley via Miami did. Reggie and his Pacers did.
The last great era in the NBA had its greatest heartbreaks in the worlds most famous arena through this tall skinny long distance pest that gave the greater meaning to a ticket to the Garden basketball wise against our heroes(Knicks) because you knew heavy defense, showboating, trash talking and elbows and techs and good old fashioned basketball in the mecca, plus a fight maybe would breakout. And this was before fighting now is called a black eye when before it was just apart of the game.
Those two threes in in 7 seconds ranks up there with the Charles Smith head fake heart attack under the basketball as consensus 1 and 2, the dumbest and most hurtful on the court moves i have ever seen in Knicks history.
Yeah i could have said Jordan and took the easy way out but since I grew up with this tall alien in the black and gold destroying or getting destroyed by our heroes in the last great era in NBA history(the 90's), he's my pick for most clutch all time.
What are some of your "MOST CLUTCH" player(s) of all time?
Regards,
Jason
