Newsflash! Nate Robinson is not in hiding. In fact, Nate is doing, IMHO, what his comrade in RFA should have been doing all along, which was not bitching to the media about his team, or what he thought he was worth, demonstrating ill-advised timing to vent his frustration over his contract with ESPN, or his angst over the natural progression of what restricted free agency is all about.
According to RealGm, Robinson said that he is understanding of Donnie Walsh's plan for the team, has communicated his desire to remain with the Knicks, and will be patient until the Knicks are ready to deal with him. That's it. No tantrums, no taunts, no threats, just a nice way of saying "I'm here when you're ready."
Wow. Imagine that. A patient Nate. And here we were, thinking that Nate Robinson was immature, was impulsive, and didn't understand the nature of teamwork.
David Lee could learn much from his very much in control friend in terms of keeping his freaking mouth shut about himself and showing some real class in understanding the mechanics of what a GM must do in order to keep his own job.
I actually hope Walsh remembers this when it comes down to the nuts and bolts of what to do with the one player I never expected to react in such a professional, dignified manner.
Class act, that 'lil son of a gun!

I think that Nate has a much better understanding of his market value.

I think Nate's agent has a much better understanding of his market value. ; )
I think Lee's agent (Bartlestein) made a huge mistake by publicly stating his guy was worth 10 million a year. Bartlestein has now painted himself into a corner with Walsh and the Knicks and also with his client. So far Walsh has bested him and I don't see that changing any time soon.

I agree with everyone on this issue, and going in we though we would have more trouble with N8 demands.

My gut says Nate will resign with NY, althought I have read nothing on the status of the contractual talks of either David Lee or Nate Robinson.
If Walsh can sign N8 for the rumored one year $5,000,000 or $6,000,000 deal, there will be no more need for a back-up shooting guard, IMO. Robinson is arguably the most explosive scorer coming off the bench in the NBA, has trade value, is a crowd-pleasing player, and is the only 5'7 and 1/2 inch player I've ever seen in 42 years of watching NBA basketball who can split a defense like swiss cheese.
He is also able to play spot minutes at the point, and if Mike D'Antoni can get Nate to inculcate PG into his head, Robinson may just become a keeper for years to come.
Maturation is a process. From most accounts, Eddy Curry is finally getting serious about his life and playing ability, and Nate is showing that he will wait for what may be a nice deal.
I do agree that Mark Bartlestein took a naive David Lee and rocked his restricted free agent status in such a bad way, that Lee is left with accepting a one year contract with NY or playing in Turkey. That said, Lee could have taken the high road and not said what he said on ESPN about his contract negotiation issues. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth, sort of when I eat my dear mother's meatloaf, which, dare I say, is pretty awful. The meatloaf, I mean.
Plus, Rene will be so depressed if Nate leaves that I'll have to send him a "Greatest Hits of Krypto-Nate" video to provide some sort of grief relief...

I would not be displeased to keep Nate if he can rein in his emotions and play PG like I know he can.
I think this off-season has been telling for Lee and Nate and I suspect the rest of the league believes their stats, normally a good selling point that would get them a big payday, are a product of D'Antoni more than skill. That's a shame because both guys would produce for another system. Nate was a double figure scorer and Lee a double figure scorer and rebounder before Mike arrived here.
I see Nate and David getting good one year deals with the Knicks and the promise they won't be forgotten once money loosens up. The big issue is Agent Bartlestein who has David's ear now but I am confident that Lee is a smart young man who can see that his agent's approach was as subtle as a sledgehammer.

I can't believe DLee hasn't seen the light Bill, that's why IMO Lee is out of here ,If he still think he's worth more then he doesn't fit it's that simple, but he might of heard from other teams that they would give him 9 million. The problem is the Knicks wouldn't trade him for crap.I find DLee decession supprising and N8 supprising it's like a reverse role of what I though would happen. It's a shame sports is money.if we lose DLee which we will I wouldn't feel as bad for Cleveland fans losing Lebron to us,it's the bussiness part of life which can be cold,I grew up when players stayed with their team in baseball for years but everything is different now and since we have more cash than anyone it should work good for us if we use it right.
