Interesting development. I am not sure of the purpose of talking to Stack when we want to play Chandler at SG and we already have Larry Hughes, a player very much like Stackhouse, but I guess there is no harm in talking to the guy.

All I have to say is UGH! Please no Stackhouse, Tinsley or Iverson. I'll take Sessions or J. Williams, but no to the rest.

Comrades...
Remember Ze plan is to keep as much salary cap space available for the summer, or even this season, when the February trading deadline rolls around or in terms of garnering a draft pick for 2010. If Jerry, Jason, Jamaal or any other $1.9 million one year rental assists Donnie Walsh in accomplishing this goal, than I am all for it.
Nate Robinson, IMO, is not in the Knicks on-court plans, as I believe his role will be as a sign and trade chip for either Rubio or Ty Thomas. Stackhouse is almost a foot taller than Nate and plays the 2 guard. If signing Stackhouse means providing off guard insurance for Wilson Chandler or Larry Hughes, than his role is that of a rental player, one who continues Donnie's K-Mart Special moves, with a particular purpose in mind.
If NY is serious about 2010's summer being the most critical period in recent franchise history, it is my humble belief that these seemingly senseless auditions, have a lot of sense attached to them. Plus, Larry Hughes is an expiring contract, and the largest salary on a team which is now counting its pennies on everything. IMHO, there will be a flurry of larger moves if Donnie can get rid of some of the fat which hangs on to payroll like mold hangs onto 3 week old bread...I love that imagery, despite its nauseating implications.
I see a King with a Ruby and a tailored Ty in my crystal ball...

I would not be unhappy to get Tyrus Thomas and Ricky Rubio essentially for the price of extending David Lee's contract. It would be interesting to see who is available next year to take all those extra greenbacks as it seems players are looking to re-up with current teams at a faster pace. Roy is the first. I imagine Joe Johnson or Chris Bosh will follow. Suppose we threw a free agent party next summer and nobody came? ; )

While the Knicks are at it; Brevin Knight is sitting by the phone waiting for Donnie's call. Might as well bring him in too for a look-see.

RealGM quotes Alan Hahn's twitter(which I can't find) as reporting that the Knicks are interested in signing Jerry Stackhouse in a sign and trade involving one their 2010 contracts. Don't know exactly how that would go down. Does Dallas still have Stackhouse's rights? I don't want Stackhouse, he has never impressed me, but for one year, the deal itself(not the player) might be a good move. I imagine it would be Jeffries that goes, not Curry, but one can hope!

Stack was dealt to the Grizzlies then waived, not sure how a sign and trade could workout.

I think the article was implying a trade involving Curry or jefferies would have to be completed before Stackhouse would be signed.

I think the article was implying a trade involving Curry or jefferies would have to be completed before Stackhouse would be signed. Stackhouse is a UFA. Merc is right. Donnie wants to move either Curry or Jeffries, with Jeffries name coming up the most via Hahn's and Berman's writing/twitters. In fact, it was even mentioned that one of the two would need to be traded in order for the Knicks to acquire Ramon Sessions and old man Stackhouse. I believe Walsh has a taker for Jeffries and I'm thinking Washington's Mike James straight up for Jared. I suppose that James would be then be released. We can also take solace knowing that Von Wafer's wonderful name has also be mentioned as providing NY with a bigger guard. Post #400. C'mon, that's worth a Karma, right?

Ken whats up with the Von Wafer icon on your posts?! Neil... I happen to love the name Von Wafer, and have taken it to new heights. When I first heard about some rumor that NY was going to sign Wafer to a small deal, I literally went crazy, imagining the MSG PA putting on that Championship era Chicago Bulls pre-introduction music, and Von Wafer being introduced to a standing ovation ala Michael Jordan! Just a little fun with Von, that's all it is... Bill, thanks for the karma and I am literally a triple double on this MB! Our post race is truly more exciting than the Knicks off-season has been ...
