Some misnomers.
Lee is actually quite athletic and should be able to defend better than he has shown. I think his failings on defense are more the product of coaching than ability. David Lee would be an excellent starting PF for the Knicks. I also believe his jump shot will continue to get better and better. The difference last season from the year before was night and day and the one thing I know for certain about Lee is he works relentlessly on his game.
I like Tyrus Thomas but he and Lee are further apart on Basketball IQ than they are on sheer athleticism. I think we can afford a guy like Tyrus when we surround him with other smart, unselfish and team oriented players. Put Tyrus with players like himself and he's no longer an asset.
We have some smart guys but the overall team IQ needs a significant boost. I think as long as we have Curry and Nate playing significant roles then guys like Tyrus Thomas could wind up being a mistake.
