RealGm and The NY Daily News are both reporting that Chicago and New York are interested in a sign and trade of David Lee for Tyrus Thomas in the event Lee does not sign the Knicks one year offer which would be $7,000,000-$8,000,000. It was stated that the Knicks would prefer Kirk Hinrich, but that the Bulls would push for NY to take Thomas. Here is the url; www1.realgm.com/src_wiretap/#

Prefer Kirk Hinrich? The guy makes almost 10 mil a year and he is signed another 3 years. That just doesn't make sense. Lee for Thomas makes more fiscal sense and he's a good fit for NY.
BTW, Hinrich had a bad year last year averaging just under 10ppg at 9.9 and shooting 44% from the field. He did hit 40% of his treys.

I dont mind losing Lee for TYrus. I think with him and Hill or Eddy or Darko, we have filled that need for someone who can block shots and rebound. The kid is 22- avg. 1.9 blocks. The kid has a heartbeat as well. I love LEE but if we are going to lose him, Id much rather it was for Tyrus or Boozer.

I was shocked as well to read that New York would prefer Kirk, since I remember Hinrich's cap-killing contract, when the initial thread of Chicago's interest in Lee was posted. I think it was pretty much unanimous amongst us all that Ty would be a perfect fit. He is also a RFA next season and Chicago may not want to spend the money on a player who is three years younger than David Lee and one who has freak athleticism. NY appears to be set at the PG spot, with the anticipated signing of Nate Robinson this week, Chris Duhon, and Toney Douglas. Due to Nate's agreement to the contract, Ramon Sessions will not be pursued. I think that RealGM made a typo, to be honest with you. They probably meant that Chicago is interested in pushing Kirk Hinrich but the Knicks would prefer Tyrus Thomas. Otherwise, I agree that it makes no sense for NY to get a player who is under a long, bloated contract. That is not consistent with Donnie Walsh's plan at all.

Irish: The Bulls always seem to dupe the Knicks in deals. They must think Isiah is still running the show. Pearl Pearl... We've also down our share in duping the Bulls. We dumped Jerome James and Tim Thomas on them, and they still have James' contract on their books. However, they really did screw us unwittingly with Eddy Curry. They did everything they could to avoid making the deal, and Eddy did have good year with us, whereas Sweetney and Thomas were utter failures, although Timmy did resume somewhat of a nice career--with NY, that is. As I said in response to Bill, I do believe RealGM failed to proof read what they posted. There is no way any GM would take a declining Hinrich and his crap contract, unless Zeke was still running the Knicks into ruin. Amazing what thirty pounds of peanut butter flavored Ring Dings per day can do to a young man's career. Had Curry been monitored back then in terms of nutrition and conditioning, he may have ended up being a 20 and 10 pivot. I have an NBA magazine from 2004-05 that expressed that Eddy Curry was third best offensive center in the entire NBA, behind only Shaq and Yao. The writers projected Curry to be the best center in the NBA by 2008 if he worked on his defense.

I compared David and Tyrus and, at first glance, Lee's stats seem to blow Ty's out of the water, until you see minutes played per game. I would love to have that ability that Bill, DA, Gary, and others seem to have in estimating what a player would produce if provided adequate minutes. Ty only played 26 minutes a night for the Bulls and if one looks what this kid could do if given David's minutes, we are talking all-star numbers. What I like about Ty is that he is unbelievable aggressive and wants to win every damned game. I'm not saying Lee doesn't work hard or has any less desire to win, but Ty Thomas is, IMHO, a very special player who is now developed an effective mid-range shot, something which Dave still must work on, and is a shot blocker to boot. While Lee is still young, Thomas is three years younger. I may be wrong but I think that David is approaching his ceiling as a player, whereas Ty has only begun to scratch the surface. The Bulls are probably excited about getting that stability, consistency, lunch-pail type of guy who you can pencil in a double-double in every night. They also seem to have difficulty handling emotionally charged players like Ty, and we have Nate, and D'Antoni has a special way of working with players who sometimes drift. I would do this deal in a NY second. I think Thomas would flourish in NY. Here is one trade that I do hope happens.

Kenny:
A 295 lb. mandate should be Walsh's demand of Curry. His conditioning has been so poor, the Knicks need to enforce more tough love on him. At the least, Curry becomes somewhat tradeable again.

Pearl Pearl... I think that you must have read the NY paper in which Eddy's fitness guru and nutritionist said that, and I quote, "coach's would be delusional if they expect Eddy to ever weigh 285 pounds...He would be too skinny." Yes. The trainer said "delusional", which was an obvious reference to Mike D'Antoni. The trainer went on to say that "the lowest weight that Eddy can conceivably reach is 312-315." Even after the 30 pound weight loss, Curry still weighed 328 pounds. This means that Eddy weighed 360 pounds, when he finally played his 11 minutes last season, completely embarrassing himself and the organization. Pearl, sadly Eddy's inherent sloth, lack of self-care, and continual off-the-court distractions were just some of the self-destructive behaviors that we, as fans, and Knick management, unfortunately were privy to when it was nearly too late. It is my hope that Curry can reach a playing weight which makes it possible for some GM in the NBA to actually take a chance on him. Maybe because he is only 26 years old and does have skill, there may be hope that he and NY can part ways.

He said Eddie was getting muscle tone so the fat would convert to muscle and he would be stronger and look better because he would be firmer,I believe Kenny's veggie burger did the trick,I'm starting to get scared we might lose DLee and it's sad,his agent is a moron,I guess this move was reported wrong good call Kenny,I guess if I have to trade him Thomas might be a great move under the circumstances, althi=ough I wonder if we hold DLee longer he might have more value if people get hurt,I still hope DLee wakes up and stays and improve and next contract we would max his contract.

Pearl,
I guess in a literal sense that is true. To add depth to my comment, Eddy is a naturally large man. If he dedicated himself to losing weight and getting to 290, he could do it and improve his game. Eddy's problem is not a lack of strength, but of a lack of quickness. Adding weight slows you down because it just takes that much more effort to move the extra body mass.
Eddy would never be too skinny at 290 because he would still be a lot stronger than the majority of NBA players, but would regain some quickness that he had when he was younger. It really depends on how you train. Eddy's trainer appears to be a strength guy. IMHO, that is the wrong type of trainer for Eddy. Eddy needs to focus on speed, agility and quickness. That means losing weight and improving on his cardiovascular fitness.
The only really successful NBA player over 300 pounds was Shaq and once he got too heavy, he was routinely exposed on the pick and roll because he no longer had the quickness to show and recover. The NBA, especially now, is much more about quickness than strength.
IMHO, one should always stay away from NBA players near or over 300 pounds. They are knee and foot injuries waiting to happen.
Now if Eddy was 315 and sculpted like Dwight Howard, then I might reconsider, but that is not the case.
So, I will repeat my self....
there is no way that Eddy Curry would ever get too skinny.
