I dont have MSG so I have to watch the Knicks game delayed by a day on NBA TV. Based on what I observed on the first game, heres some thoughts...
The summer pro league is pretty much a one on one game which rewards the guy with the ball. therfore the guards generally rule and the big guys look average at best.
Thabeet wont look good in this type of game and other shooting forwards wont look that good either. From his games in Arizona Hill often got a lead pass in the Wildcats game and I saw just one of these all game.
Hill's catch in the post and fallback shot is tough to block expeciallly as he gets good elevation on it because you have to come across Hills body to block it.
This is not a good Knicks summer league team since there is not a single go-to guy as with Nate Robinson in the past. I dont see them winning a lot othese 5 games.
When you see all the former lottery picks (Sene, Tskishkivilli, Maurice Williams, etc.) flailing to make a NBA club it points up the crap shoot that generally follows the top 2 or 3 picks and getting into the lottery isnt generally that good a deal compared to winning some more games, unless you are very very bad.
Eddy Curry did not look like he lost a lot of weight IMO (or was bigger than a house to begin with) but he still has good quick feet. I think he will eventually be let go and most GMs would likely think that in his present shape. Heres hoping that I'm wrong.
Of all the guys on the Knicks besides Douglas and Hill, I think Crawford looked the best bet to land a spot on the Knicks, based on this first game.

wow, one post on summer league? you'd think by now Patrick Ewing Sr would be complaining to the NY Press about Jr' lack of playing time..(see NONE).
I guess Jr has a seat at the casino in case a big trade comes up he maaayyyy be able to slide in somewhere..like the development league.
How about that Ron Howard, child star, one of america's great film directors and now getting a serious look in Oy Vegas league.
Anyone notice the Knick kids have ZERO wins against everyone else's kids? No Tracktor Traylor to blame this year.
ps; On a semi-pro note Cris Wilcox has signed with the Pistons.

Jr. isn't playing...he has an injury. deep bruise to the EGO? No. Ewing, Jr. had surgery (knee I think) after his NBADL season and it was not 100% yet when summer practices began. Ewing, Jr., by all accounts, is a young man very different from his father in ability and attitude. Everybody seems to love him.

I never commented if he was likable or not, I was speculating that POPS EWING will be bitching if his spawn does not make the team or get playing time or whatever. He's a proud papa, but his kid is not the hoya destroya the cranky dad was and is.

Message received. ; ) Yes, Papa Ewing has one more reason to slam his old ball club. Not that he needs a reason.
