Hey Jason...
As always, thank you for your messages of support. I am okay, and I know Iron will be fine. We have to "fight" through adversity and my fight thus far, has resulted in reduction of every tumor in my body, and even the elimination of some! I am not out of the woods, yet, but I fully believe that I shall recover from this.
I also fully believe that Iron will fully recover from the trauma he went through, too.
Thanks, Jason, for your support and kind words about us!
Ken

Iron
My thoughts and prayers are with you for a complete recovery and a return to the things you love to do best though I'll never understand why an Ironman competition is 'fun". ; ) Be well. Stay thirsty. ; )

God Bless You Ken. You probably haven't noticed my absence from the board these past 10 days or so. Because I am sort of a minor player in this scene. That is because I had my own medical emergency these past 10 days. I had to undergo open heart surgery, and there were complications, and I barely made back. It took two trips to the CV-ICU before I was stable enough to procede. I had quintuple by-pass surgery, and then they discover a minor whole in my heart. I am home now and on the way to recovery. Genetics bit me in the ass big-time, as i eat right, exercise right etc. I hope to make a full recovery, but it will take months. Ironman, keep fighting and get well soon. Open heart surgery does not have to mean the end. My grandfather had open heart surgery in 1994 and in December, my entire family is going to celebrate his 100th birthday with him. So, find a goal in life and work for it through the rehab and I am sure that you will come out of this doing just fine. My thoughts and well wishes are with you. Get better soon.

Get well soon IRON. There is a theory that says KoolAid is good for the heart. So are positive thoughts. Here's one: Someday the knicks will run screen roll with Gallo and Turiaf and both defenders will NOT race to cover the better offensive option: TURIAF

Well, Pearl, I am doing pretty okay...so my thoughts and prayers are with Iron. We need his interior presence ala Maurice Lucas, who Bill Walton called "the greatest Portland Trailblazer ever"
Iron: You will be fine, and I know that an illness and a condition of this magnitude flat out sucks. But, you know what it takes, comrade, and just heal up, rest, and know that your Knicks MB friends are all here, and want you back...
Always, as Usual,
Ken

Hey Rene...
I'm doing okay and I am seeing that Iron is back on the board, talking about freaking Azubuike, again! When the hell do we get this phenom back?
Iron, I hope that NY beats the stuffing out of Golden State. No Lee tonight. ; )

Down to 8 man rotation, which leaves room for Azubuike to get some PT. They interviewed him tonight and he said 1 to 2 weeks. I read that he still has a giddyup in his run, that he has to straighten out, or he won't be able to play defense. Good tense, scary win tonight. Felton had a career night, Turiaf was exceptional, and they took one basket away from him. Amar'e and Gallo also had very good games, and Chandler, Fields and Walker did their thing. Of the 8 that played, I think only Douglas did not play well. As for me; the oxygen is gone, the visiting nurse has been dismissed, I have permission to drive, and I will be starting a rehab program Tuesday. My chest still hurts some, but I am breathing better and deeper. The scar is nasty, and my five new plumbing devices seem to be functioning well. I can walk for 20 minutes or more and climb stairs. I almost didn't make it out of CV-ICU because they discovered a small hole in heart, which I actually saw on the TV screen. So they had to change my recovery process and send me back to the CV-ICU a second time before I could spend the necessary time in the recovery ward. They were threatening to put me back on the breathing tube, and you know that, that usually is the literal "kiss of death". This problem had probably been building up for years, even though I was competing in and winning Triathlons, I never felt like I was breathing fully. I finally figured it out, when I tried to ride my bike after breaking my leg(and recovering) and I couldn't ride my bike more than 1/4 of a mile. It really pays to get an angiogram(the dye test where they put a catheter in your groin and take pictures of your heart). I think I can recover fully, but we shall see. It's less than a month since the bypass, I got a long ways to go. I am still weak, and sleep a lot, so I have to DVR everything like the Knicks games, in case I nod off in the middle of the 4th quarter, and the lead gets down to 2. LOL

Hey Iron...
Good news about the oxygen being gone and was the nurse that ugly that you dismissed her? Damn. That's about the only thing I get pissed off about, my friend. You should have had a hottie RN who would give you the requisite treatments!
You are definitely an IronMan and you have the right attitude. You're coming along fine, from what I know ofg this procedure, brother, and it's only been less than a month. Don't worry about the sleeping--hell, I sometimes sleep very odd hours because of the damned chemo therapy and tests I have to take, but it is all part of the challenges we both face, mate. You are also breathing on your own, so don't worry.
I predict you and me to be in the finals. Cheers to a Full Recovery for me and Iron!
