I got home quite late last night and found an intresting headline on real gm. No one has mentioned it, but here it is.
Walsh Hints At Unannounced Player Move? Jul 02, 2009 11:15 PM EST
Donnie Walsh e-mailed the Associated Press and seemed to imply that the Knicks will have more salary cap flexibility in the summer of 2010 than currently projected.
"I have a little leeway which will leave me in good position for next year," Walsh wrote. "I know what it is but do not talk much about it."
It is not clear whether Walsh is referring to an unannounced player move that would reduce the Knicks' salary cap burden. Eddy Curry and Jared Jeffries have the two largest contracts that remain on the team's books for the 2010-2011 season.
The Knicks will reportedly offer a three-year contract to Jason Kidd.
Who knows Walsh might be reffering to Kgloog's idea about buying out Curry who is in deep financial troubles. If this is the case Walsh will most likely see if Curry can play some good ball this season and try to trade him. If not then go for a buyout. Or he can be reffering to somethong else. Does anyone have a guess?

It is very intresting considering Walsh just happens to send an email to the AP and says the above quote. Maybe a trade that cant be finalized before a certain deadline. Walsh might want the fans to know something good is coming, and not to be discouraged by the Knikcs lack of movement during the draft and free agent period.

Merc...
When I first read your post, I immediately thought of Eddy Curry and the buy-out option. The Knicks are one of the few teams that can get rid of this contract as they can afford to, and Curry is in huge financial straits now. Donnie Walsh is one of the more experienced team presidents in the NBA, has been able to manage salary situations in small markets, and, most importantly, has the vision that the Knicks have not had since...well, a long time--perhaps since Eddie Donovan's two championship squads.
In an ideal world, a Curry and Mobley's contract deal for T-Mac would occur, and it is not as bad a deal as one would think for the Rockets. However, Curry's value as is low as any player in the NBA and it would take a miracle, even in light of Houston not having Yao or T-Mac. A buy-out of Eddy's deal, even at full contractual value, effectively assures that two elite free agents can be signed by New York in 2010.
Jared Jeffries is actually wanted by Washington and Sacramento, specifically for the Kings Kenny Thomas. If it costs Nate Robinson to get rid of Jeffries' damaging contract and NY should get a 2010 first rounder, too.
