Very astute move by the Lakers. Ariza is about to leave and Artest is the ideal replacement.
Donnie, let's start going here, good players are on the move.

Yao is injured, TMac is toast and who wouldn't want to play for the Lakers over the Rockettes?

Wouldnt it be nice if got Ariza as David Lee goes. chandler as the 2 and Ariza as the three with Jordan Hill and a shot blocking Mlicic would at least be the perfect complimentary pllayers to Lebron or Bosh or Wade or whomever we get. Ariza is worth way moreand he might choose another title contender over NY but he'd a perfect 2 or threee next to bosh and or Wade if were so lucky.
He's grown so much since the last time he was with us as most Knicks do when they are no longer Knicks.
In reality he'd go good on the Spurs or the Hornets or even the Blazers or Bulls. Ariza is a borderline allstar with the way he has been playing the last few years. If even a contender gets him at the midlevel for multiple years they are getting a steal. As to be honest with you I'd give Ariza a 10 mil a year deal before I'd give Lee one in a heartbeat. Its funny watching other teams steal each other's player. Portland doesnt want to play with trying to take Lee this year because we could try to steal Brandon roy or Lamarcus Aldridge next year when they are restricted. they dont want to play with us on that one. And why would Lee go the Grizzlies and be in exile for the next 5? Or Memphis? Lee and his agent can't be that dumb. Extra 3 mil is nice and all but if NY is one year or two away from being a contender and the Grizz or Memphis are probably a decade away why would you go from bad to even worse in exile where no one wants to go?

Jason:
Great post. Ariza has really developed, have to give some credit here to Isaiah for that pick. I would like to see him back in NY too. They need a player to do the intangible, blue- collar work desperately.

Very astute move by the Lakers. Ariza is about to leave and Artest is the ideal replacement. Donnie, let's start going here, good players are on the move. Pearl Pearl... This is a superb move by LA. They have vastly improved as Artest was a player I always wanted on the Knicks, but Layden was thrown off by Ron's antics--but, as usual, look who wins out on players who we either do not pursue or simply give away, like Ariza, who blossomed just as most of us predicted when Tim Thomas was sucking up all of the young Trevor's minutes the first time Tiny Tim was around. Now, despite liking Ariza, he will go for more than the mid-level, plus we have SFs, and Wilson Chandler is going to be a star in this NBA...We must, and I preface this with my humble opinion, we must dump Curry to the Rockets, along with the Mobley contract for T-Mac. We cannot take back any long-term salaries, which is why I think Walsh is playing coy with any discussions about other FAs... We all must remember that Donnie and company had a terrific draft, made a great trade in getting Darko for Q, and wants J-Kidd for two reasons. One, he is still a top PG and two, he is an attractive player for other players to want to be around. The reports are Kidd was offered the mid-level for three years which will allow him to play with two elite FAs, PROVIDING we can dump Blob and/or Jeffries. I am not worried about Nate, since he will accept the qualifying Knicks offer this year, according to sources of Alan Hahn (Newsday) and this will make it much easier to trade him or retain him, if so desired...

like it says on the pizza box... "you've tried the rest, now try the best" I guess crazy ron wants a ring..(not so crazy) In discussing this Ron Artest acquisition, my dad said to me, "the rich just keep getting richer, and..." I had to stop my poor, beleaguered pops' dysphoria and tell him of the Knicks grand scheme and to not despair over the Lakers winning it all this season. Sometimes a pizza box just speaks volumes. An unbelievable pick-up for LA, and, barring injury or an Artest on-court or off-court explosion, I cannot see how any NBA team can beat the Lakers in a seven game series, or a three game series, or a two game series...
