Just read on RealGM via CBSSports that Mark Bartelstein will reportedly have Lee sign an offer sheet with the Grizzlies or Thunder that we will not be willing to match. I am now assuming these clubs are willing to pay ten million or more per season. Although nothing is concrete, I was atleast hoping for a sign and trade where we could unload more salary if anything.
Also on RealGM via Newsday, the Rockets could be interested in a Curry/Mobley for T-Mac swap. With the recent reports of Yao's health and the possibilty that his career could be in jeopardy, it wouldnt be a surprise if Houston was willing to take a gamble with Curry. Not to mention the money they would be saving with Mobley's contract. And for us, more relieft for 2010 of course.

The TMAC possibility is intriguing, however, I would think they would want Chandler in this scenario.

Tmac? Does he get to bring his own orthopedic doctor or does he have to use ours? I can't believe the Knicks will just let Lee leave w/o getting something in return. Since I don't understand all the technicalities of the cap...can't we cut someone else to make up the difference in Lee's $$$$. If he has to go...let him go...but get something for him.

Not to mention the money they would be saving with Mobley's contract. And for us, more relieft for 2010 of course. Will... The NY Daily News cited today that Walsh would do $8,000,000 for 4 years with David Lee. Memphis and Oklahoma may offer more but Lee's girlfriend is a NYC-based model and wants Dave to remain a Knick. Let's hope she is the deciding factor. We can still match those offers and do a sign and trade with either of those teams, anyway, although that would compromise our cap space for 2010, if we took back a player with anything more than a one year expiring deal. Also, Bartlestein could be posturing, for as much as I love the General, he isn't worth $10,000,000 per year--not with his jumper. Now, I hope that this Fat Ass/Mobley deal for T-Mac has some substance to it and is "real". This would give NY another $12,000,000 in cap-space and we can virtually be assured of 2 elite free agents coming here in 2010, plus, if T-Mac eventually heals from his injury, can you imagine LeBron, Bosh, and McGrady on the same team? I would pull the trigger on this deal without even thinking, and as much as I love Wilson Chandler, NY has to do this deal. I think Pearl is right--if NY puts Chandler in to this package, it is signed sealed and delivered. Let's see what the 2010-11 line-up looks like if the Houston/NY rumor comes to fruition: Center: Darko/Saer Sene/Gallo (as a high-post alternative) PF: Bosh/Hill (I am assuming Lee is traded or walks) SF: LeBron/T-Mac (of course, he can play any position...) SG: Wilson Chandler/Toney Douglas PG: J-Kidd?/Rubio?/Duhon/Toney D The Knicks apparently are just letting Chris Wilcox walk away, although he may be useful in any sign and trade. I like Wilcox but now with J-Hill, there is going to be no room for him. I also did not figure Nate or Jeffries into the 2010-11 team, since I think both players will be gone this summer. I think this line-up is only weak at the pivot, but if Darko can flourish somewhat under Mike D, than I can see us well on the way to an NBA title within a year or two with this line-up. I also now we don't have a pick next year thanks to Zeke, but I am certain Walsh will correct that. I would draft a center, if we do get a first rounder next year, although I like Sene's chances of making the team. Gallo can play a "Dirk-like" role on the high-post, but Danilo is a much better passer, ball-handler, and defender than Dirk was and is. Plus, Gallo shoots 90% from the FT line and the three point line, which is freaking unbelievable. If Chandler goes in the T-Mac proposed deal, than obviously Larry Hughes has to play at that position for this year, for McGrady is still injured, if memory serves. I mean, I know Houston needs a back-up pivot to Yao, and if Blob reverts back to Eddy Curry, this deal does work out for both teams... Other rumors I read today include Grant Hill, Andre Miller (This is would definitely need to be a sign and trade with David Lee) and Mike Bibby (I do not think Bibby is so good, to be honest). If we can get Andre Miller, which I don't, I would be delighted.

The T-Mac deal would be Walsh's crowning glory, for we get rid of Blue Whale! Even if Mac cannot play a second for NY, we have saved $12,000,000 for next year. This hypothetical deal would be worthy of Walsh being named Team President of the Century. The beauty of restricted free agency, and both Nate Robinson and David Lee are RFAs, is that NY can execute sign and trades with either player. The Knicks have the last call on this, so if the Grizzlies want Lee, they can offer him whatever they want and Walsh can match it or agree to a sign and trade. It would take an unbelievable amount of money to wrestle Lee from us. Walsh is offering $8,000,000 per for 4 years. I cannot imagine what Memphis or OKC will offer David that is so much more enticing to a guy that wants to be on a team who will soon have LeBron and Bosh/Wade, and possibly a healthy McGrady. OKC and Memphis are NBA nowhere lands. I cannot see Lee wanting to go there, even if those teams offer him $9,000,000 a year. It would not be worth losing your status as a Knick, losing your hot girlfriend, and being part of a soon-to-be title contender.

McGrady may never be able to play effectively again, but it would not matter since we would be able to dump Curry's contract in the deal. Since I never wanted fat Eddy in the first place, I can't wait until we get rid of him.

but if it was such a nice deal to us fans and the deal has any strength to be true why the hell hasnt Walsh done this deal yet? Walsh is a smart guy and all but he is a little slow with his decisions and I wonder how much he really allows D'antoni has imput in the players thaat are on his team?
I think we are on the right track but at times and not all the time, but at times I think he sint the deal sealer NY needs in certain scenarios. Like this draft for instance, with David lee as an asset and as Nate as an asset and for maybe worse out of those three as we need him the most Chandler as an asset, how is it with all Walsh's checking in with all the teams ahead of us werent able to even have anything in place to move up.
Minnesota sent half eh(miller isnt the shooter he used to be) and have good player(Foye is underrated) and we have a whole crew of players like that including the aforementioned players. I love the 2010 plan and all but every knows what we are going to before the big summer happens and there is always room for something knowing our recent history to go on.
I imagine that if Kidd, Bass, Lee, Gortat, Millsap, Ariza gone might as well not even use our midlevel on anyone to be honest. And I believe in no way shape or form we just allow the Grizz or OKC just steal David Lee if Lee wants money that bad we need to get their pick for next year plain and simple.

Comrades,
IMHO, we have to prioritize getting rid of Fat Blob Curry and if it costs us Nate Robinson or Mobley's contract, Donnie Walsh must do it. We do have chips to play, even though the stupid NY media doesn't even mention Mobley's contract...This is an 80% insured contract, and is definitely worthy of a first round pick in and of itself, even if some sap team takes Lard. I still think we will be seeing some interesting FA signing rumors and trades after the moratorium is over on July 7th and remember both David Lee and Nate Robinson are going nowhere until July 9th, at the very soonest.
This FA class is nothing compared to next year's FA class, and now I am reading that Walsh offered a 3 year deal to J-Kidd, which Dallas can still easily match. Richard Jefferson was on the radio yesterday and said Kidd would pick New York even with a $12,000,000 difference in salary from Dallas, and then he quickly backtracked and said he THINKS Kidd will pick NY.
Donnie Walsh, IMHO, has been around the block many more times than the other GMs in this league. He will not cut off his nose to spite his face, or this Knicks team. David Lee's agent is insane if he thinks he can get his client $10,000,000 a year and now Toronto has emerged as the new front-runner (probably the only "runner") and lest we forget, Walsh can do a sign and trade for Bosh if necessary or simply match the Raptors offer. Lee wants no part of Toronto and their 50% tax rate, I would bet. Remember the General loves NY and I think we can get Lee for $7,000,000 per annum after all is said and done. That's a lot of money, guys, even for a player we love. David Lee is a fourth or fifth option on the 2010 Knicks, with LeBron, Bosh, and whoever else will be here. We also have Jordan Hill. We also have Darko. We have options.
