Thats reasonable although...Los Angeles for all its beaches and mountains and entertanment and dining and champonships has a history of not attracting free agents (Shaq was the one major acquisition through this route.
They did get Gary Payton and Karl Malone to get a "sure" ring. When they didnt get it thopsew guys couldnt get out of LA fast enough. Too much Shaq and Kobe for one locker room.

Nice read, and thanks Gates for posting it. Here's my only contrary point to the author. NY is the Mecca of NBA basketball and despite our crappy weather, nearly every NBA player past, present or future, wants an NBA title. NY certainly has had its 10 year drought due to financial mismanagement, but the Garden rocks like no other building on the planet when the team is a playoff contender. Steve Nash and Jason Kidd love the city as well they should. Nash is an incredibly gifted PG, but like John Stockton, never received the media exposure, endorsements, and although recognized as elite players, both Nash and Jason must drool over what would have occurred if Patrick had either one of them running the show, while Kidd was threading the needle to the likes of Chris Morris, or John Stockton ohrchastrating the show instead of Chris Childs and Preacher Ward.
Kidd is meeting with NY today and I am sure Walsh's plan is to extend another chance to come back to NYC, with the knowledge that 2010 will be the year NY busts out. That sad, Kidd knows NY, but also had KVH as his primary weapon. That's like having Tim Thomas as your "Pippen".
One of these guys, Nash or J-Kidd, will be a Knick by the end of this FA period. I do not like J-Kidd's actions off-the-court, but this is a HOF PG who is a pass first pure PG who will supplant Duhon as the starting PG. IMHO, if Walsh can get him to do a one or two year MLE, jettison Nate and Jeffries for cap space, and possibly sucker someone into Eddy Curry, he gets my vote for GM of The Year.

Donut Shop etc...? what are your favorite locations and locals for posting? I like to post in my house with a 2 liter Classic Coke, 2 large Coffees, light no sugar, and a couple of packs of Newport 100s. Oh, and I like sitting at my desk so I do not have to struggle to find the keyboard--that's in terms of locale. My GF has a daughter but the little kid is staying the summer with her grandmother, so I can post there, although her WiFi connection is sort of on the weak side...Plus, she still thinks this is a Hockey Message Board...Oh, and I can smoke in her apartment without hanging out the window like a night-gown...

Ken that is graphic and hysterical. (really all that coke and nicotine?) M- Yeah, it is true, although I have cut down on the cigs, since my daughter threatened to leave me! I must have my caffeine, but then there is that problem of hanging out the window like a Bensonhurst lady, screaming for Anthony to come home for his pasta...It isn't a pretty sight, even for the sorest of eyes...Plus, this is the time of the season which creates enormous anxiety for me. Boy, I have more excuses than Eddy Curry does for not getting in shape this year!
