This board was created March 29th, 2009. We have close to 113,000 posts. Yet at the brink of salvation at last for us long suffering Knicks fans this board is almost dead with WEEKS between new posts where once it was MINUTES! What say you brothers? A quick and merciful end to over 25 years of sharing and commiserating or a new beginning?
I'm as much to blame as anyone here but the fact is FINALLY our Knicks are relevant again! FINALLY we are close to actual contention! FINALLY we have a PG and to my thinking a SUPERSTAR PG!!
Thanks to the Mavs tanking and Adam Silver being too chicken to hold Cuban accountable we have no draft pick this year but the Knicks do have all their own first round picks for the next 7 years plus picks gained in trades and LOTS of tradable assets. IMHO only Brunson, Hart and maybe Hartenstein and Grimes are off the trading block. Once the Finals are over (Go Nuggets!) trading season opens and lots of names are being tossed around. Among those names are Dame Lillard, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, Karl Anthony Towns and Zach LaVine. I want none of these guys mainly because some of these teams would never trade with us and also because of the high cost. I didn't include Kristaps Porzingis mainly because he is still on my shit list.
Personally I like OG Anunoby. He turns 26 next month. He is 6'7 and long. He is wildly athletic and an excellent two way player. He averaged 17 PPG and shoots 48% from the field, 39% from the 3 point line, 84% from the FT line while grabbing 5 boards, handing out 2 assists and making 2 steals a game. The only real issue with OG is he misses games. He had an ACL tear his senior year at Indiana and some kind of injury every year of his career. Throw out the appendix operation or COVID/illness issues. He fractured a hand last season. There will always be the inevitable ankle sprains and thankfully no back issues. There have been calf issues and a hip problem that got better but I'd take a chance on him. He's signed two more years. The biggest reason I have for going after Anunoby is cost. I think the Knicks can get him for Fournier and multiple picks. If Leon Rose and Whoever Is The GM can pull off that kind of deal Anunoby is the perfect fit for this team. He can shoot, he can score, he can defend and he's a team guy who also adds youth and athleticism to a team that needs to get more athletes. Toronto has OG on the block because they have Scottie Barnes who is an even more athletic and a better defender at SF and he's taller and younger. He also had better rebounding and assist numbers while averaging almost the same as OG. OG is a better shooter now but Barnes is just 21 and he shows good form.
Fournier is an expiring contract and with Fred Van Fleet, Jakob Poeltl, Gary Trent, Jr. and Will Barton as Raptors unrestricted free agents the chance to get an expiring big money deal AND multiple draft picks might be too attractive to pass up. Remember money is always an important trade consideration and the Raptors definitely want to keep FVF and Poeltl.
