This is the player we’ve waited for. All you guys who posted here over the years. Nothing but silence. How good can Brunson be? I love what this team is turning into. Young players with potential. Quickley Grimes Sims Deuce Barrett Mitch Julius - playing all star caliber ball
We’re doing good and this may be a stepping stone season. We’ve certainly waited long enough and we still have MANY draft picks. Happy New Year !!!!!

Happy New Year. Love me some Brunson. It's like having Hubie Brown at PG. He is so smart and his feel for the game is incredible. Really enjoy the young guys especially the games where Deuce realizes that there is a reason he is wide open and no one is rotating out on him. IQ is an excellent 3rd guard and his defense is very very good. I'm falling in love with Grimes unselfishness and intelligence. All the guys you mentioned are quality defenders except Brunson and he is such an offensive genius, who cares about his lateral quickness.

Would you trade Randle now at a high, do you keep RJ ? Do you trade Robinson while you can ?

Patience ! Patience ! Patience ! This team needs more time and experience to graduate to veteran status. The destination is in sight, NBA all- stars are getting older and aging, and the future looks bright.

I can't remember the last time we had a point guard who is as clutch as Jaylen Brunson is and also is smart. This kid is an absolute joy to watch. He knows how to run a team. He knows how to make other guys better. He knows his own strengths and weaknesses.
As for the trade question. NeRly anyone is tradeable, but I'm not going to make a move unless it's the proverbial offer that can't be refused.

He knows how to make other guys better. He knows his own strengths and weaknesses. As for the trade question. NeRly anyone is tradeable, but I'm not going to make a move unless it's the proverbial offer that can't be refused. Kman has it right. Patience. What this team needs is a scorer who can get points when it counts, better 3 point shooting, scoring off the bench and time for all these youngsters to develop because we might already have the players in place to fill these needs.
Brunson is where it starts. He has Curry/Doncic/Jokic smarts with the ball. Where he lacks in length and athleticism he more than makes up in smarts, guile and ball skills. Everything in his game is trending up which helps in scoring in pressure situations and 3 point shooting. Even his defense is better than I thought and as Steve points out his game is a joy to watch. Get trapped on the baseline by two bigger defenders? Somehow Jalen steps through for an easy bank shot. He's perfected the midrange stop and pop so he gets his shot with relative ease. His ability to score in the paint is so masterful I forgot he learned a lot of that part of his game from Luka.
RJ is getting better. MUCH better because he is playing smarter, playing more efficiently and playing both ends of the court while his scoring and shooting improve. He always was a good rebounder and he shares the ball well especially with Mitch Robinson.
Now factor in the play of youngsters like Mitch, IQ, Grimes, and McBride who are all playing excellent ball (especially Grimes and Mitch)and the expected contribution of obi Toppin now that he is back and healthy and the future is bright. I think Hartenstein has played well in stretches but I'm really looking for Jericho Sims to become a factor. Which brings us to Randle.
Still the trade talk continues. I don't get why. He isn't the straw that stirs the drink because that is Brunson. Instead Randle leads in more subtle ways. Last night against the Pacers it was clear Randle's offensive game was not needed as much as usual. So he has a monster night on the boards, gets the ball in the hands of his hot teammates and he plays defense. In fact his defense was key in the victory last night. Trade him? Given his very affordable salary, age and production it would have to be a blockbuster to move him. In the meantime he is under team control till 2026 which gives Obi and Sims time to expand their games lest a blockbuster present itself.
I'm under no illusion. We lost a 17 point second half lead to Milwaukee. We barely beat the Pacers at home without their best player for half a game and their second best player all game while having a 25 point second half lead. The Knicks go through periods of the game where they play like a CYO team. Some of that is age. Some of that is experience playing together. So we wait and hopefully we do get better in the areas that separate the Knicks from a barely over .500 team to a true playoff contender.
But all this starts with Brunson. Finally the Knicks have a player who can control games while not excluding his teammates. And what about Grimes? Key defense. Key offense. He's a steal.

Brunson was incredible AGAIN. I am a little worried as he had to play 40+ minutes. Gotta let IQ play some backup PG. I get Thibs getting McBrick outta there (minus 15 in 7 1/2 minutes) so let IQ or RJ run point for a few minutes.
