Damaged goods and can't shoot the 3 Or foul shots.
I go back to this early indicator of Ben Simmons. His LSU teammates and the coaching staff were actually happy he turned pro early. Despite the surgery I still sense Simmons just didn't want to play basketball. I also sense at the first sign of adversity, struggle or criticism Simmons will bail. No thanks.

His time is running out, someone needs to rehabilitate him and I'd take the chance.

We'd lose shooting but gain super speed. He'd make Toppin and Fornier much much better. There would be teams where he could play some point center. My o my. Like Axios, I'd do this immediately but I doubt the Rims would. But if they did Randle would be tremendous 3rd option (on offense)

A cancer on and off the court.
Let me put it succinctly. Ben Simmons makes Kyrie Irving and Trevor Bauer look like Ernie Banks in comparison. There is no more selfish and divisive player in sports. I am so beyond pleased BOTH Simmons and Irving are on the Nets.

But we have to get real talent. Of course we could wait for a free agent like Luka to come. Like KD did Or like Giannis did. Or like LeBron did.To me the risk of that deal mentioned is minimal. BTW I expect the Rims to at least get to the coference finals next season if they have the same top 5 or 6 players. Hopefully I'm wrong.

No question Simmons is talented and his price is at an all time low. There is a reason Brooklyn would practically give Simmons away and an equally good reason why the Knicks should just pass on him. The Knicks with Simmons MIGHT have better chemistry on the court but the chemistry in the locker room would be toxic. Keep in mind how quick fans turned on Randle and he only led the Knicks in points, rebounds and assists for the last 3 years while playing 207 out of 222 games.
It would be like sticking a frozen turkey in a deep fat fryer.

It would be like sticking a frozen turkey in a deep fat fryer. Great analogy. But i don't care that much about chemistry on an 11th place team. I do care about better players. I do care about pace. I do care about defense. I dont want to be Orlando or Sacramento, teams with a ton of B level players.

Ben Simmons ranked 88th in NBA Real +/- his rookie year. Second year he was 77th. Third year he was 83rd. Fourth year he vaulted to 17th.
Can't begrudge him his defensive ability nor his passing.
And yet:
One wonders what kind of offense needs to be developed for a guy who can't shoot from the field and is terrible at free throws. We saw that in Philadelphia he became a liability in the playoffs where free throw shooting is inarguably paramount.
He clearly has psychological issues and has a balky back. And he seems quite unlikeable to boot. This is NYC.
He turns 26 this summer. Kind of late in the day to start developing his game, which as we all know he refused to do even before the debacle of the last two years. That said, it'd be good for him if he sought out Pau or KG for tutelage. Keep everything midrange and wrist flippy. Might even help him with free throws.

Agree with most of all what you are saying but…… he’s a better talent than anyone on our team. Get rid of Randle, build up his value and his contract is less. That’s a win, even if he doesn’t play.

Who is going to coach him up? Thibs doesn't have the ability to develop players. And Simmons has already imploded. Is there anyone willing to come to NYC to reprogram him? Anyone on the Nyets capable? Or the Knicks... God help us? I think he, Simmons, should pay big bucks to have Garnett, Pau, or Duncan develop his game. But it has to be *his* money that he spends, not the team's. He has a shit-ton of FU money at this point, no doubt-- that can fuck with your head, as we all know. And yet the dude is only steps away from playing in China LOL. Meantime fuck him and his advisors. And fuck the Nyets, especially KD and Irving. And one more gratuitous "fuck" just because I hate Dolan. Here's an informative read, may put things in perspective: thesixersense.com/2021/08/25/sixers-assigning-blame-ben-simmons-quagmire/
