I really thought the Knicks would have a good season. Wow was I wrong. All the bright spots from last season have dimmed. IQ seems to have regressed. Julius is having a horrible season. Barrett goes on streaks w and you think he’s turned the corner, but then he regresses. Kemba is a shell of himself. Burks is up and down. I also wonder about Obi. Sometimes he doesn’t see the ball very often. Then there’s the Coach. I’ve gotten some bad vibes from him. I’m not sure about him.
No one seems to be posting to this board that much. Not too much to be enthusiastic about. Another lost season.

Why base an extension to Randle after one great season with zero fans in the stands? Why swap out defense for offense when the team thrived on the former? Other than drafting decently this has been a disaster.

The regression of effort from Randle is the most disappointing thing. RJ is still young and growing, so inconsistency is to be expected. It is the general lack of effort from Randle that has been the most disappointing part.
I think IQ is experiencing what a lot of young players go through which is that he worked so hard to improve his ball-handling and defense that his shooting is now off because of the extreme amount of mental energy he has put in to improve in those other areas. I suspect that once he gets more confident in his ball-handling and defense, his shooting will return. He is too good of a shooter.
The best part of this season is seeing the real development of our young players like RJ, Mitch, Obi, IQ, and Grimes. The reality is that we are actually a very young team at the core and prone to the inconsistency of youth. Unless Randle steps up his effort and play, we are going to be mediocre this year. But, we have 5 talented 25 and under players that Thibs is doing a very nice job of developing. RJ looks like he could be a true alpha on offense within the next two years. Obi has shown signs of bending defenses with his athleticism. Grimes is already a solid 3 and D. Mitch has become a threat on offense and defense and IQ has been the team's best PG since Rose got hurt.
I think that the absence of Rose has made a HUGE difference in the team, particularly with Randle. Rose is such a dynamic threat on offense that he forced everyone to play harder and smarter. Randle in particular misses Rose. I hope that when he comes back, Randle picks up his effort and mentally relaxes and we go back to a winning team instead of an average team.

I agree with some of what you said, but not other parts. I don't think that Coach T has done a good job developing our young players. Grimes gas barely gotten minute all season , except for recently. I don't know what McBride has to do to get minutes, but the kid absolutely deserves to be playing at least some the minute's Kemba is using.. Why the hell aren't we playing Cam Reddish? Why can't he at least get some of the minutes that Noel and Gibson are getting? And I don't think we are an average team. Right now I think we suck and are barely watchable Coach has shown why he has bounced from one team to another. I think he is worn out his welcome here.. I think he has lost the team.
