Trying to keep myself grounded after these two games, remembering if we played Milwaukee and Philly on the road like New Jersey did we might be 0-2, but it’s really hard! Another impressive performance and it’s starting to look like not only are the Knicks the best defensive team in the league, they might also be the best shooting team in the league! Anyone see the comments by the Celtics coach after they were blown out by Toronto in their home opener?
Ime Udoka: "It looked like we could have been tired from the double overtime game, but no excuses. We got a good day of rest yesterday. And New York went in and beat Orlando, so no excuses there."
No offense to Udoka, but the Knicks come to play every night! That’s a tribute to the team assembled and its great coach. On the post game show they talked about never seeing Thibs so happy and how much he loves this team. It’s hard to believe he had troubles with players on other teams in his previous coaching stints. That’s obviously on them. Either that or he’s mellowed and realized his mistakes and learned from them. Without a doubt he’s the best coach in the game.
As for the game, it sure is exciting watching the Knicks rain three pointers down on the opposition. I knew Evan Fournier was good, but had no idea he was this good! It’s not just threes, it’s going to the basket and making great passes as well. I was worried about a slow start to the season with two new starters, but the chemistry between Fournier and Randle this quickly is amazing. And even though Kemba didn’t have great final numbers, those early three point bombs were the main reason the Knicks dominated the game right from the start. What a difference from the Payton bricks of the last two years! Obi is a different player and I actually feel bad for him because with Randle in front of him he’ll never get the playing time he deserves and on another team he could average 20 PPG. Same for IQ. Let’s do it again Sunday night after another long day of watching our terrible football teams!
