Q1 No continuity or flow on offense. Defense is keeping things respectable. Knicks looked tight. Thibs sticks with the RS starting lineup despite my objections.
Q2 Burks showing why he must be retained as a priority. Toppin and Quickley look good too! Listen to that MSG crowd. It sounds different from other crowds on television. I bet Dave Glazer is ecstatic.
Knicks behind 45-44 on a Quickley 3 and LISTEN TO THAT CROWD ROAR! Man I have missed that sound from MSG.

Bench is huge in this game. Hawks are hitting 47% of their shots in the first half. That won't happen in the second half.

Payton is so bad. Randle needs to set his feet on those jumpers!!! RJ finished with his right— pretty. A Bullock sighting. But Young is killing us. Coach put in Frank just to slow him down. Let Randle handle the offense.
Finally Payton is out. Randle still needs to settle down. AND HELLO RJ FUCKING BARRETT. LISTEN TO THAT CROWD!!!
Barrett with another great hustle sequence. What he did at 1:30 left is proof of what a fucking gamer he is.
Randle turnover is a 4-point swing DAMN IT. Not sure if the Knicks can win playoff games unless Randle plays way more solid than tonight so far.

Thibs must be a very nice guy or something because on the court he is on a different page. We lost because we didn't close out on Gallo and Huerter and Bogdonivic. We also lost because we couldn't buy a bucket outside of Burks and IQ in spots. I need us to start Burks or Frank or anything else besides Payton next game. And we need to be aggressive. Shut that little leprechaun Trae Young up. Oakley the enforcer or Sprewell wouldn't have allowed that young man to flex to the Garden crowd like that at the end nor get that floater either(damn I miss Mitch). Back at it on Tuesday. |

Elfrid Payton played 8 minutes. That said I'd love to see him play zero minutes but the Knicks lost because their best player played great and our best player didn't. It's that simple. I like our chances of reversing that scenario and wiping that smirk off Young's punk mouth.

I'm sad but not as sad as i thought I would be. Dont know if it was the euphoria of being in the playoffs. Or watching old ass Phil win the PGA.
But here's what I do know:
(1)That last call was bullsh^t. A 98 lb. weekling bounces off a real man and gets a junior high school call (in a surburban league)
(2) Elfrid has no confidence right now. have a hard time him getting any confidence back in the playoffs.
(3) Julius played a very bad game. He came in ALL Pro and took the shots he's been making as an ALL pro. Hopefully he makes them next game. But whether he makes his shots or not, he also needs to be THE BULLY. Horse those b^tches Julius.
(4) As discussed, when Knicks play Burks, Rose, and Barrett together; Frail Dung cant cover any of them.

No consolation starts for the sake of it anymore. Start Burks or Frank with Rose off the bench. 8 minutes and we lose by a small margin means everything in the second season. I'm not as mad as I thought I'd be but to lose the opener on Randle not showing up, Paytons lost 8 minutes, not being able to shoot outside of Burks and maybe IQ, and Thibs coaching less than his usual self, is unacceptable for tomorrow's game 2. We'll see. |

The refs didn’t cost us this game, but on what planet do you let them play the whole game and then call everything down the stretch including the ticky tack fouls? That is literally the reverse of how a game is usually called. Or how about be consistent for 48 minutes so players know what to expect when the game is on the line? F those bums. And start Frank, and this is coming from someone who HATES FRANK! You can’t let Mini Me get off like he did against Payton. Frank starts and he either stops him or slaps the shit out of Herve Villachaize and draws three quick fouls and you go to DRose. And Eddie Gaedel wants to be Reggie Miller? Well we usually ended Reggie’s season and we will end Tom Thumb’s as well. The Knicks were definitely intimidated by the crowd in their first playoff game and it won’t happen again. Notice the players most unaffected were the ones who have been there before, like Burks and Rose. And for some reason the rookies, Obi and IQ were fine as well. I rarely criticize Thibs, but Atlanta made nice adjustments to slow down IQ and Rose in the second half, and Thibs didn’t come up with a plan for Young, or if they did, his team failed to execute it. If Tiny Tim is going to beat you, make it be from long range, stop letting him in the paint for the floater or lob pass.

From my view from the game, we missed a ton of shots in the 1st quarter and played uphill for most of the game as a result. We need to attack Young more. The only time that we did that in the 4th, RJ backed him down in the post and got an easy score. Young cannot guard anyone other than Elf. The Hawks tried to hide him by having him guard our corner shooters. We need to force him to guard people with picks, or by sending people into the post.
Randle had a bad game. I trust that he will bounce back. While disappointing, I am not really bothered by the loss. The Hawks played REALLY well, while we did not. I would not be surprised at all to win the next two games and I think that we win in 6.
