Is everyone OK? Surprised no one commented about the game or the 7 game winning streak or just how the narrative has changed about us.....like everywhere.
I love this team.

JASON I thought the same thing when I checked the board last night. We are currently a 5th seed!!! I like the development of RJ Barrett alot. Nerlens Noels has been playing his tail off. What a good addition both Rose and Gibson have been. As a veteran for us this year Gibson seems far more effective with Thibs as coach and playing in Thibs system, probably because the other 4 guys on the floor have clear and defined roles on both sides of the ball. I never cared much for Bullock but he has also changed my opinion on his game and his value to this team in spots. Neil

Looking at the game last night, on top of his all-everything skills, Randle had some of the prettiest passes I've seen in a long time.

Eight games in a row and the most amazing thing is now I EXPECT the Knicks to win the games! Where did that come from? We certainly don't have the most talented team but we have a tough, gritty team that never gives up and is now starting to feed on the pressure of close games. You feed off success which is exactly what we are seeing here. The rest of the NBA is taking notice too and long after the Brooklyn superstar trio are rocking on their porches in retirement this group will own New York City.
One thing I have noticed is how Thibodeau seems to make the right halftime adjustments and the Knicks come out of the locker room with great focus and determination whether it be offense or defense or even both. I have some issues with Thibs but he does know the game and this team. He makes the difference and he seems to be stretching his rotation some and making player adjustments that make sense. I still don't get benching hot players but I can't argue much with his success.
I wanted Bullock like 4-5 years ago so it's good to see him deliver for the team. I love his defense and I love how he naturally flows to open spots on the floor. I especially love how quick he gets his shot off. I do get the feeling with a little more trajectory that jumper might be a bit better but you don't mess with success. He's a keeper this summer. But that said I'd still like to have a legitimate starting small forward either by drafting/trading/signing one or getting a scoring guard and moving RJ to SF.
Speaking of RJ you look at his vastly improved 3 point shooting and his defense and it's hard to believe this kid is just 20 years old. Now throw in he is getting better at his midrange game and what do you see? Klay Thompson. RJ is not the pure shooter that Thompson is but the defense and the growth in overall offensive game plus his physical size remind me of Klay. And that's a very good thing.
I won't compare Elfrid Payton to Steph Curry and I am fully cognizant of his awful perimeter shooting but how about some love for the things he does do well? As fans we get caught on one glaring weakness which blinds us to the other positives a player brings to the game. I'm not advocating keeping Payton this summer but I am saying he is nowhere near the stiff some fans think he is. If he leaves this summer he gets a thank you for his service from me and warm wishes on his career.
Like Bullock I always admired Nerlens Noel though he has to have the worst hands in the NBA. Still his athleticism, hustle and smarts have shown he is worth a contract extension. He and Taj have been huge since Mitchell Robinson went down. BTW, Norvel Pelle was signed to an extension. Good for him!!
No Burks but Rose steps up again. He's another Knick I hope is signed to an extension. I don't think Derrick has starter stamina but I love him and Quickly coming off the bench. I also love how Rose seems to seize the moment when he is most needed.
Knox seems to have wandered back in the rotation.
I never saw Burks coming as a player but he's another signing the Rose/WWW/Perry combo turned up out of nowhere. In fact the only mistake I think the Knicks made was not signing Christian Wood as a free agent. His numbers are exceptional and he's 25 and his contract was a bargain at 3 years and 41 million dollars. Put Wood with our guys and we are title contenders plus Wood is a stellar defender. We saw Clint Capela get 25 points and 22 rebounds for the Hawks last night. Wood deemed him expendable to the Houston brass.
Then there is Julius Randle. I have always wanted him even over KD and Irving and now the Knicks fans have embraced him. Randle is not a megastar player like KD and arguably Irving but he is a star player who loves playing for the Knicks and has shown growth in all areas. Obviously his 3 point shooting is the biggest difference and nobody on the Knicks broadcast team can recall such a huge leap in 3 point FG% from 28% last season to almost 41% this season and he's shooting the trey more this season. I think his defense is almost par with his 3 point shooting as a revelation and he's been showing leadership ability that coupled with Rose, Burks, Noel, Gibson and Bullock and the youngsters has bound this team together like no Knick team I can recall in recent history. In fact the 1999 team was tight but volatile. There are no distracting players on this team.
Now throw in the fact we have cap money (spend the money and then sign the guys we want to keep and keep in mind Randle is still under contract for next season), draft choices and a very young team and the future looks bright. It's too early to predict the draft but I'd like to see our management team maybe parlay our picks into a lottery shot with Moses Moody, Keon Johnson, Davion Mitchell and Corey Kispert being the targets. I'll say this again that Florida PG Tre Mann is a sleeper. Free agent wise I want Norman Powel. Not a superstar player nor a #1 option but he can score, he can defend, he can shoot and he's smart and still young.
One more thing. Call me crazy but I still like Frank and I still think he has value.
I forgot Quickly!!! Still vastly inconsistent but when he is hot he's smoking'!!! Love the kid and when he learns where he belongs on the floor and takes better shots he will be something. And I'm still on the Obi bandwagon though if the team knew how good Randle would be they might have taken Haliburton.
