.... over an injured- but still good Lakers team as they reminded us by beating the 'Brook'ies a few nights ago. LAL is still a good team with guys that could start on just about every other team coming of their bench. But NY put in the defensive muscle to win- going away 111-96.
NY gathered themselves behind leader Julius Randle (can we soon call him the "Chief II'?). 34 pts- 10 Rebs- 4 assists. And some decent help from others, but not R J Barrett (7 pts-3 rebs-3 Ast) and that generally ends badly. Bullock had a decent 12 points. But a few good and underappreciated performance changed the picture.
Two duos made their position great last night. Centers Noel and Gibson combined for 14 points- 19 Rebs-6 Stls- 5 blks. A major factor, and most teams would love to see that from their center position. And at PG the Knicks did another combo act- Payton and Rose for 34 points- 6 Rebs- 4 Asst- 1 Stl- 1 Blk.
Just a note- Payton does a decent job- he isn't an all-star and actually neither is Rose most of the time- yet together they make for more than complimentary position players.
Coming up: At New Orleans and Dallas and then 6 at home: NO, Char, Atl, Tor, Phx and Chi.
