....and Thibs in game infatuation with him.
I realize Burks and IQ were having an off game but in the final quarter where you need both stops and he should've played Frank on Edwards. Or needed offense and put in Burks or IQ he continually last night went with Payton who can't setup a team nor shoot for his life.
I don't care who it is that replaces him at the 1, but we have to be done with the Payton experiment. It's just not working and hurts 9 out of 10 games he plays with us.
Thibs is stubborn with this tight rotation business, and having depth means nothing if he keeps going with the cold hand.
Shit try Knox when you need some offense. Try anyone with a pulse but stop trying Payton.

I understand but without Rose I dont think Thibs had a choice. IQ isn't a point guard and he is ALWAYS probing for HIS own shot. Burks wasnt doing much ehen he ran point. And I'd play you before Frank. At least (very low bar) Elfrid can penetrate. We do win the game with Rose. And I doubt Payton is back next season.

I get that but the majority of the games we have won IQ was a closer even if Payton started. We needed stops and I'm watching Edwards blow past Payton in the fast break like the Road Runner to Wile E Coyote. We needed buckets too and if they neutralize RJ and Randle who was getting us a bucket but the man they call IQ? We have shown while we are a playoff team, we have a Milky Way to go to be a dangerous team playoff team. Apart of that I'm not gonna lie and this ties into Payton is Thibs stubbornness. Love the guy but his rotations are a little too strict. He's burning through guys and sitting others who make one mistake a game ala IQ, Knox, Frank, Obi.

The Knicks are better under Thibs but he still hasn't changed his style or approach. He seldom trusts youngsters and they get the hook a lot faster than the vets. I'm not as down on Payton over one game but replacing him should be a summer priority. A second unit featuring Rose, IQ and Burks can only materialize if the Knicks fill the PG position and either get a legitimate SF or a shooting guard that allows RJ to play SF.
Lonzo Ball this summer while keeping Rose, Burks and Noel and then maybe Beal in '22.

I get your point about being stubborn and Payton's rim destruction can be irritating. But knox obi and IQ make LOTS of mistakes in tight games. And Frank - well everyone knows what i think of him. (better served as a model/high end restaurant waiter) {after KD and Rapaport I cant do preferred Frank joke}

Not enough to warrant not getting the closing minutes of a game. Almost every game we have won has been with IQ closing or Burkes closing with RJ and Rose. NOT Payton. I'm sorry it's not just something I'm feeling only from this game but from a sampling of the two years he's been here. Read/watch Alan Hahn or just about any sportswriter not named Berman after that game. It isn't just me that feels that way.

But at the point he gets you into nothing as he is generally over seeking his own shot. He almost never swings the ball. i do agree that he makes significantly fewer defensive mistakes than Obi or Kevin. But man he probes for himself way too much.

I missed the games last week because I was away and with the time difference the games were on at 3:30 am. I was back for the Nets game but missed the second half. The last thing I am is a Frankosexual but here’s something I don’t get. Where is he when the game’s on the line and the Knicks need a stop? Why does the most defensive minded coach in the NBA have no use for his best defensive guard? Evan Roberts the Nets fan host on WFAN was laughing at Payton the next day because he was apparently motioning teammates away from helping him against Kyrie, and as he was doing that Kyrie buried a three right in his face. While I was away I checked the box scores and saw that Thibs was still starting Payton but his minutes had been reduced greatly. I guess he’s playing more Burks and Bullock but no need for Frank at all? And why doesn’t a Knicks beat reporter ask him about it?

It was beautiful! Just like NYC only safe and clean. The people are wonderful, they were all offering me seats on the train, I didn’t know whether to be grateful or offended! Ninety degrees and sunny every day, and the beaches,pools and malls were incredible. Everyone speaks English and all the signs are in English, you would really think you’re in an American city when you’re there. And it’s nice to be in a country that doesn’t politicize Covid safety measures, no Kevins or Karens causing a problem when it comes to masks and social distancing. I recommend it highly. Only drawback is that you cant find a beer or casino anywhere though, if you’re into that.
