Do you want Andre Drummond now that he can be had for just money? The Knicks can offer him up to 17 million on top of his buyout now but the catch is he wants an extension and that may be the only reason the Knicks can get Drummond by promising him an extension. The Lakers, Clippers, Celtics and Nets are also in the race but there is a catch. The Celtics have a 28.5 million exception from the Gordon Hayward trade they can use. Will they use it and are they willing to tie themselves up long term to Drummond?
Some facts:
28 years old, 6'10, 285 lbs from Mt. Vernon, NY and UConn. Averaging 17.5 PPG and 13.5 RPG. Taken with the 9th overall pick in 2012. Gone from 37% from the FT line in his rookie year to 60% this season.
Very explosive, strong athlete but at times his motivation has been questioned. Not a rim protector and while not as bad a post and pick and roll defender as Enes Kanter he's not very good either though when motivated I have seen him actually be dominant.
If the Knicks get Drummond what happens to Mitchell Robinson? Nerlens Noel? Team chemistry? As you can see I'm hoping Drummond goes elsewhere but I also trust the Knicks management. But that doesn't change my vote of "NO".

I'm going with not sure, and only because outside of being a lob threat we have seen zero development in regard to Mitchs offense. So for me spacing is an issue with guys like Randall and RJ who work best in space. Now I'm not sure what Drummond would actually add in that regard but at least we know he has a somewhat post game and can do something down low if given the opportunity. Seems to be a tradeoff though because what we would gain in offensive possibility we would probably lose on defense. I dont know if either Mitch or Drummond is the long term answer but unfortunately those are decisions the organization is having to figure out sooner than later. Is it weird that I like a guy in the Brooke Lopez mold?

I’d love Drummond for the rest of the year but would hate to give him an extension at this point. Watching him this year he looked like a bigger version of Julius Randle with all the ball handling, passing and long range shooting, but the obvious difference was that he was far inferior to Julius at every one of these skills. So the obvious question is can he go back to being the rebounding, shot blocking stud he was before and complement Julius on the floor or would they get in each other’s way? And no extension until they know for sure!

Seems Lakers are favorite to sign Drummond.

My gut instinct says NO. The fan in me says why not, we give up no assets aside from $$$ and if it doesn't work out, we let him go. I'd much prefer to develop Mitch though.
