First half:
Randle dominant. So good to see. Burks looks so good.
I like the composition of this team. I prefer Magic’s take on who to trade for, namely ball. Stephen A is a basketball moron. You want easy buckets by pushing the ball. You want a PG who is pass first. You don’t want a guard with a high usage rate who will take away the playmaking Randle does. You want a guy with the ability to disrupt passing lanes/deflections.
Poor Toppin.
So great to see Barrett figuring the NBA game out in his second season.
Love to see Westbrick fading into irrelevance. Top 10 overrated player of all time.
Mitchell effing Robinson.

Maybe you are overrated Bill. Personally, I think you are the best thing since sliced bread and remote controls. But remote controls could still be improved. I keep pointing the mute button at my wife but ...

Thanks for the compliment. Trust me, I'm not worthy!

Who else is on your top 10 all time overrated? Hmmm. In my era (1972-present) Carter, Harden, Iverson, Karl Malone, Bryant, Chamberlain, Mcgrady, 'Nique, Maravich, The Admiral? I look for players who make others better and actualize the potential they had at their disposal.

I would say Mcgrady was criminally underrated. I do respect that you chose stars to criticize as that is more difficult,

David Robinson the model citizen and the man who taught Duncan everything on the court he knows? Brotha David, please expound. I'm not trying to chastise, I genuinely want to know why those 3 players? Wilt, Kobe, David Robinson?

I look for players who make others better and actualize the potential they had at their disposal. Wait a minute you thought Wilt Chamberlain and Kobe were overrated? David Robinson the model citizen and the man who taught Duncan everything on the court he knows? Brotha David, please expound. I'm not trying to chastise, I genuinely want to know why those 3 players? Wilt, Kobe, David Robinson? Well, like I said, I feel that Chamberlain-- by his own admission-- did not make others better (whereas Bill Russell did). The one exception was the year he led the league in assists AND won the title... and that demonstrates to me that he never lived up to his potential. Given his skills and stature he should have won more titles. An argument has also been made that there's such a thing as being too good, I suppose, but here we run into the distinction between "best" and "most valuable." In a team sport I think there's a meaningful discussion to be had about the difference between the two terms. He may have been the *best* player ever and yet is outside my top 10. With Bryant he made others around him better when he felt like it, but he just as often chased stats and took way too many shots. His footwork was among the best I have seen, his midrange game was great (with the recognition of how often he palmed the ball to get to his spots), and the form on his shot pure. He had Shaq for three titles, was lucky to have won the second time against the Celtics (who had lost Perkins) when he got a huge lift/bailout from Artest and Gasol while he himself displayed lunacy in going 6-24, 2 assists and 4 turnovers in the Game 7, and the fifth title doesn't stand out in my mind-- oh wait that was against an Orlando Magic squad that was one of the worst finalist teams I think we have seen-- really a junior varsity finalist. Bryant was who he was, an absolute basketball genius and a supremely skilled player, but also selfish and not in a good way. I think there were at least 10 other players who I'd rank higher than him, who is around twelfth to my way of thinking, and certainly not much lower than that. PS I never liked him very much as a player or person-- came across as a tantrum thrower as both. [It says a lot that, while I was driving last year when news of his death came over the radio, I was not only shocked but felt like it was a kick in the gut. I liked the post-NBA Kobe and thought he was starting to blossom as a person.] Nonetheless, you must admit that he gets elevated by his legions of "stans," many of whom have had the gall to shout "MVP" when he played at the Garden, outfitted with his jersey and whatnot. With Robinson I am not sure how much he taught Duncan? Is that right? 89-90 Second round exit 90-91 First round exit 91-92 First round exit 92-93 Second round exit 93-94 Second round exit 94-95 Conference Finals exit against Hakeem who outplayed him badly if memory serves-- see Shaq 00-01 95-96 Second round exit 96-97 He sat out injured and the Spurs were able to draft Duncan 97-98 Second round exit during Duncan's first season-- ironic that Duncan made others around him better immediately, including Robinson 98-99 Beat our team in the strike--shortened season, kind of an asterisked title, and I'd say the same for last season's bubble title. 99-00 First round exit 00-01 Conference finals exit, destroyed by Shaq if memory serves, see Hakeem 94-95, a shadow of himself 01-02 Second round exit, once again facing Shaq, by this time Robinson is a shell of himself He, like Ewing, never really developed into a good enough passer and in this sense didn't make others better, though in other aspects of the game Robinson surely did. It's no shame but also not good to be so thoroughly out-played by Hakeem and Shaq. And, again this is maybe a hazy memory, unreliable, but I don't recall Robinson being much of a low post player, with footwork and passing out of doubles. Wasn't he more of a face up kind of center? To whatever extent that is true, to that same extent he didn't live up to his potential. He, like Ewing, should have gone to Pete Newell's big man camp, like Bernard King, Bill Walton, Hakeem, and Shaq did.
